I went claming, and now I'm breaking out in spots. This happened the last time I went claming too.

So, is it possible for me to be allergic to the type of water or muck that you find clams in?

I'll be sure to bring my water testing kit next time I go... and of course a scientist that can explain the results of the test would come in handy too.

seriously people, I realize it could be something in the water, but I've been in the ocean, and the lake and the pool, today I was in the intracoastal in Florida. The water is not clear and the clams are in the muck. The others in the group did not have this problem, so I am assuming it is an allergy. The spots are more like little red dots and I'm slighty itchy.

So once again, do you think it's an allergy?

Mmore then likely you are allergic to something in the water not the salt water. Be sure next time you go to check the bacteria count in the water to be sure that's not the problem.

Salt water is a natural irritant
You need to wash off the dried up salt as soon as you get out or else it will do just that.
And it will sting.
