That depends on what your definition of what "work out" is.

Are you talking only about weight training or are you including aerobic excercise as well in those 5 days.

Ultimately the most balanced excercise routine is one which combines both forms. For example:

Lift weights 3 days a week (Mon-Wed-Fri) focusing on a specific area each day (i.e arms and shoulders on Mon...Legs on Wed...and chest/abs and back on Fri)

Couple that with aerobic exercise 3 days a week, wherein you elevate your heart rate to at least 60% to 80% of your maximum heart rate.

Then on the 7th day...take a day off!

I don't know?... I do know that it is good to give a day or two in between that way your muscles can relax and stuff. If you worked out 7 days a week and done the same thing your body would get used to it in no time and then it wouldn't even matter that you were working out.... I say you did fine.. might be a little sore after the 3 days when you start back though.

yea it affects your muscles in a good way, you shouldnt workout more then 4 days a week and should take a week off every 2-3 months.

FYI :If your working out 5 days a week your muscles arent getting the porper amount of rest and therefore you will not experience as much gain in strength or muscle mass.
