I know this is electronic section but I need to ask. What did I do? The cord to the vacum cleaner got stuck under the roller, the cord melted and sparks flew out from undr the vacuum. The adjacent rooms have no power. What did I do, how do you fix it?

It sounds like the vacuum cleaner shorted out and blew the breaker or fuse. You will need to replace the vacuum. If you go to the breaker box, you'll see which breaker has popped. Turn it back. Or if you have a fuse box, put in a new fuse where it has turned black. This should get your power back in the rooms, but the vacuum cleaner is probably not worth fixing; you will probably need to buy a new one.

The vacuum pulled the insulation off the power cord and allowed the two wires to touch causing a short circuit. The breaker in the panel tripped. Or the fuse blew depending on the age of your house. Once you replace the fuse, or put the breaker back in its normal position. electricity will return to the room.

Since the vacuum was working fine until you ran over the power cord, chances are that you just need to replace the power cord on the vacuum.

There was a short in your Circuit. You can restore power to the rooms by checking the circuit breaker box in your house and resetting or replacing the fuse. Have the vacuum cleaner serviced and checked before you try to use it again.

1. Unplug the vaccum cleaner and dispose of it.

2. Go the the electrical panel and see which breaker is off. If you have the older glass fuses, then replace the bad one.

Flip the circuit breaker switch and buy a new vacuum. The breaker box is probably in your garage, or on the side of your house.

vacuum died, get a new one.

you need to reset the circuit breaker to that circuit. the tripped breaker will be in the middle "tripped" position, you have to turn that breaker all the way to the "off" position before you can flip it back to the "on" position. if you try and go from "tripped" to "on", it won't work.
