If generally women are kind to each other, but don't really go out of their way to do nice things for men, are they really the more compassionate?

If you keep an open mind, men are the ones paying for food and socializing and doing nice things for girls to show girls they like em. Women accept it all, do little in return, and in a lot of cases, are the owns ignoring the guys making the effort.

Both yes & no. It's difficult to gage since men are not socially allowed to show their feelings as much. Besides, you would need fair judging to decide what is female & male compassion.
However since men, traditional warriors, have had to hide/control their emotions, many appear
less compassionate. Guys act like children & have fun while women act as social police.
On the other hand, once you have a woman's heart/ears, she will move Heaven & Earth to help you. Hmm maybe we all are just humans
& there is no right or wrong answer here?
Since I'm a guy, my answer is prejudiced. As are all human answers to this question.

I think men are very compassionate towards their families and loved ones. I think when generally thinking of 'compassionate' though, people think of 'kindness to strangers'.Charities, helping out other families etc.
Women tend to give a lot to people outside the family, whereas men put the majority of their efforts into helping their own family.

You are generalizing, (which I do to unfortunately) but I don't see women as not being compassionate toward men.

I don't think you can make a generalization one way or the other. Compassion is a multi-layered quality. For example, does it mean understanding, or having empathic abilities? Compassion involves emotional maturity and a genuine sense of caring. If I were to buy a girlfriend a pair of diamond stud earrings, does that mean I have compassion for her? It means I like her. You have the wrong word.

I don't think women are compassionate at all. Compassion is a manly virtue, and the idea that women have it moreso than men is a myth. Women want to be admired, and, as things stand with us socially at present, someone gets "points" if he/she appears compassionate: charitable, philanthropic, liberal, bubbling over with lovingkindness, etc. So women strive to act the part. If acting some other way would get them the admiration they crave, women would abandon their phony compassion routines at once.

No. Maybe some of them are just less creative. A lot of women do seem they prefer a man who does a lot of creative and passionate stuff for them, but they don't do much in return at all. Sad really. But girls that do care enough do show it a lot by doing passionate and creative things too.
