As a Muslim, I have been taught not to disrespect or insult others, regardless of their religion or point of view. So I will not dignify the above comments by responding in kind.
To respond to the question...
1) Why is it that Christians have killed more than 25 million of their own people, meaning mostly Christians, in just the 20th century alone? The 20th century has been called the bloodiest in history due to the wars engaged in by Christian nations.
That doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with Christianity or that it is characteristic of Christians to be violent. To the contrary, most Christians in the world are peace-loving and Christianity is a religion that teaches peace and many wonderful values.
So people who *happen* to be Muslim have killed one another in Iraq. That's not more than a few hundred, at most. 9/11 and a few other terrorist attacks have occurred. Those didn't kill more than a few hundred, or at most a few thousand if you add in Islamic extremist attacks throughout the nineties as well, horrific and unjustifiable as they are.
Does that make Muslims inherently violent? No. Does that make Islam a violent religion? No. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world, which is 25% of the world population. Less than 1% are violent.
2) Also, as someone mentioned above (and the link he/she provided is fantastic), most terrorist attacks have not been committed by Muslims and/or Arabs!! What about the IRA, the Tamil Tigers, etc. etc.? Terrorists come in all forms, and all religions.
3) In addition, as Marissa noted, how do you think the terrorists are being captured? There are Muslim police officers, military personnel, government officials, and lay people all over the world that have contributed to capturing the terrorists. Case in point, capture of Zarqawi, as Marrisa points out.
4) She also made a great point that many Muslim scholars and organizations all over the world have condemned terrorism. The media WANTS you to believe that Muslims are evil--they choose not to publicize the statements by hundreds of clerics, major organizations like ISNA, CAIR, MPAC, major universities like Al-Azhar, etc. that condemn terrorism.
In conclusion, the question posed is a complete miststatement and a gross overgeneralization about one of the largest populations of people (1 out of every 4 people is Muslim!!) in the world.
Let's stop jumping to conclusions, stop getting brainwashed by the media, and start thinking for ourselves, folks!
And, can we do each other a favor and stop throwing around epithets and slurs and insults? It's not very nice. And I'm 100% that regardless of which belief system you belong to, it's still a sin to hate on others like this.
Allahu Alam (God Knows Best). May God forgive me for my mistakes.
Peace Be Upon You All.

I agree fullyyt with what beautiful_crystal_rose mentioned. Muslims have been wronged. Did you ever hear appropriate to the 1000's of Bosnian Muslims that have been slaughtered and raped by Christian Serbs? Or approximately Chechnya or Kashmir? and of direction, the area contained in the Holy Land? Secondly, that's purely EXTREMIST Muslims that do this. each and every non secular team, inclusive of Christianity and Judaism, has fundamentalists.

it's not the muslim religeon.it just happens to be the religeon of the sickest mindless murderers we havent killed . YET!
i think the next time some group jumps up and takes responsibility for murdering people and babies. we should just blow up the regeon that their women and children are in. these people kill each other? the family tree dont fork around their breed.
they have been murdering each other for hundreds of years. and they're gonna f*ck with us forever. we might as well extinguish them now. they would us if they could. look what happened with the japanese. they said they would fight to the last man woman child.BOOM ! talks over where do we sign the surrender !i'm not a killer i dont hate. but those people are blindly stupid and brainwashed theres no hope

Please be careful not to lump all Muslims together. The radical fanatics are few but noisy, and the media pay the most attention to them. Most are peaceful, helpful, and kind and want the same things most of the other people in the world want -- a safe place to raise a family, opportunity to improve their lives, freedom to follow their own kind of worship, and so on. You can find religious extremists in most religions, and they're after power and control. There are some excellent books on Islam that can give you more background. Go to a bookstore and ask a knowledgeable salesperson to help you.

Its not all Muslims. They do teach not to hurt innocent people. Even though they dislike Christianity, the people deceived therein are innocent blood.
I'm a Christian btw, and it is hard for Christians living out there in the middle east, many have been tortured and killed. The real enemy is that people have infiltrated Islam and have brought young Muslims up to do such evil things.
Btw - most terrorist attacks outside of the middle-east are actually planned and carried out by western governments. Take alook at this link

I'm pretty sure that there are more Muslims talking than there are torturing, killing, and bombing people. Just a hunch though.

I recently 'talked' to a Muslim user thru this site. I am a Christian. Of course we had opposing views. But I tried to explain to him that when you already want to interpret the Bible his way there is no point in me trying to explain its context because he would unaccept it anyway. Of course he still argued back.
I now believe that talk is only possible if both respect and understand each other views even though one party may think that the other party is wrong. If neither party is willing to do that then no agreement will be made hence the call to arms.
In my case the Muslim friend thinks that the Bible has a lot of contradictions. I just respect his view and understand that is the way he thinks and dont argue with him on that point. You try and move onto something which you can agree on otherwise it is futile and not constructive.
People fight because they think they are right and rest of us are wrong. They cant imagine themselves being wrong.

You wrote a very interesting post.

"Does that make Muslims inherently violent? No. Does that make Islam a violent religion? No. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world, which is 25% of the world population. Less than 1% are violent."
[End]
According to YOUR own number crunch, Lets look at this.:
Even by Muslim's own words, there is a 1% "terrorists" group within the Islamic religion today. There are an estimated 7 million Muslims in the U.S. now. By Muslims own number crunch, there is approx, 70,000 terrorists here now. Lets drop that number to even 1/10th of 1%. We have a est. 7,000 terrorists here now.
Go figure.

whoa wait a minute there fella, you are talkong about muslims that are extremists. they are not all like that. stop stereo-typing muslims. all of the muslims i know are very kind and wouldnt hurt a fly much less a human being. they are peaceful. and as an american i have to say that i have been to the middle east on more than one occasion and the people are friendly. they love americans. (maybe not iraq). start thinking about the terrorists in your own backyard. like gangbangers who kill babies in drive-by's.

we are talking but u are u listening.?
MOST MUSLIMS ARE GOOD, BUT U DONT CARE ABOUT THEM, WHY?. no wonder it was a MUSLIM BRITISH and PAKISTAN who HELPED UK a few days back. and it was some IRAQIS WHO HELPED get Zarqawi.
so people should look at them as TRUE MUSLIMS WHO SAY NO TO EXTREMISTS. but people tend to ignore this and only bother about people who do bad. why,? it is something they will be able to answer only if they look within themselves. people never look upto such examples nor bother about them, becoz this is the time to vent out their long-suppressed feelings in their hearts.
for the link of muslims scholars and some clerics condemning terrorism globally please check out this link. people usually wont go a couple of steps to get to know the thruth and always eleive everything the media says..

its not that muslims are not doing anything, but the media is always hiding things from us. now i wonder why the media would do this, but this is the thruth.
