Yes, the Bible should be banned in *public*. It definetly shouldn't be allowed to be viewed by kids..
"You can cite a hundred references to show that the biblical God is a bloodthirsty tyrant, but if they can dig up two or three verses that say "God is love," they will claim that *you* are taking things out of context!" - Dan Barker http://www.ffrf.org (former preacher)
"The believers in the Bible are loud in their denunciation of what they are pleased to call the immoral literature of the world; and yet few books have been published containing more moral filth than this inspired word of God." [Robert G. Ingersoll]
In this "sacred" book of family scandals we find filth, sex orgies, cannibalism, atrocities, sex perversions, incest, bloody violence unparalleled in any other chronicle in all the literature of the world. Fortunately, not one-third of the human family has ever heard of the Christian Bible; not one-tenth of the Christians have ever read it, and no two who have read it agree as to its meaning. Won't you help get this book out of the hands of our children, out of decent homes, and out of hotel and motel rooms?- Frank Hughes
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and tortuous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize [hu]mankind. Thomas Paine
“The Bible illustrated by Dore occupied many of my hours--and I think probably gave me many nightmares.” -- Eleanor Roosevelt.
“ The abominable laws respecting [women in the Bible] . . . are a disgrace to civilization and English literature; and any family which permits such a volume to lie on their parlor-table ought to be ostracized from all respectable society. . . ” - Ella E. Gibson.
"The writers of the Bible had slight concern for the principles of morality. They were more concerned with rape, murder, robbery, slavery, licentiousness, brutal ignorance and degrading superstition. If the ministers of the Gospel are too dense and stupid to realize the moral mischief resulting from the perverse teachings of the Bible, then it is about time to bring them to their senses." [Joseph Lewis].

If you don't like it don't read it. The beauty of a free country. Are you anti-Bible or anti-Religion? Most people agree that the Bible should be restricted to adults only. You say the Bible is a horror publication and why corrupt young minds with the violence and if that the case you should have a problem with what is going on in the world around is, killings, murders and hatred are real in the world around us all over the world and that's corrupting young minds and destroying people but let's not address that, let's just ban the Bible. Oh, and the Bible isn't a thin book so it's interesting and really says something about you and your perspective that you honed in on, singled out and want to ban the Bible based on a few passages that you have completely twisted and misconstrued.

I feel it would be great if it was not around.
however,
you will have to include more than just the bible. That would be an attack on religion itself which will only lead to war. Censorship is not necessarily the way to go. Educating people; like here on yahoo! Answers and always asking questions concerning peoples beliefs and pointing out the logical absurdities is the better way. Christian leaders know this is the only route we can take and they have gotten in first by getting their congregation to belief that religion is a personal matter and not to be discussed. So as to make it seem rude to question someones beliefs. It wasn't always this way.
The bible of course leads people to insanity and must go, I just dont think legally banning it, is ever going to make things better, it will just encourage all the evil that's contained within its pages to become all the more prevalent.
Education is the answer albeit a tough route to travel. Also shunning ALL economic activity with Christianity which is another problem, seeing as how the government still gives churches OUR tax dollars as well as their own. And churches HIDE and receive money from their insurance companies, banking investments, superannuation companies and many more. but that comes back to education.
That's my opinion anyway.
***********************************************
EDIT.
Movies and books that are clearly presented as fiction DO NOT fall under the same category as rthe Bible

The bible also says
Psalms 37:4,Take delight in the lord, he will give you your heart's desire
John 3:16, For God so LOVED the world he gave his only begotten son
I Corinthians 2:9, No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.
Revelation 21:3-4, And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
You can pick and choose the scriptures but most people that read it gain hope and understanding. I'm sorry you can't get it.
BTW, NOTHING WILL EVER TAKE AWAY THE BIBLE, CHRISTIANITY, or GOD.
You are wasting your thoughts.

The Bible, like any religious material, should be completely optional to the individual. I've always believed that children being forced to read the bible, having any religion forced upon them was wrong, but banning it would only cause problems. I think it is up to parents to watch what their children are reading and not put them into school which preach the bible. There will always be books that have bad context our only option is to help your children avoid them.

No way, the Bible saved my life and I read it everyday. Like some have stated you may try to get rid of the Bible. Many in history have tried to get rid of the Bible. But that just won't happen. God's inspired Word will not cease to exist. Check this out next time you go for a read, John 3:16. Awesome Love from an Awesome God. :)

The first sentence of your description immediately makes you sound like a moron. "Most people agree that the Bible should be restricted to adults only." This notion is both incorrect and unsupported. Perhaps a select few agree with that.
As for the above "quotes," never before have I read in the Bible that "God wants you to hate your family."
Many would also argue that the Bible is not your so-called "rubbish." It has proven an important source of history and wisdom since its existence- whether you believe the stories or not.

Are you aware that the bible is the history of the nation of Israel? If you feel this way, then you'd better also ban all the history books of the world, because they contain the same sorts of things.
The bible does not sugar coat history. What it does is reveal the one who saves us from all the "horrors" of life: Jesus Christ.
Many people in all of time have hammered against the bible; the hammers are falling by the wayside, but God's word will stand forever.

The Bible is the words and works of the Creator that are to be keep pure and unchanged through time. Just as the Christians are supposed to keep the sayings and works of Jesus unchanged and pure until His return.
Only those that have been edited or the words changed to satisfy the wants of one person can be or should be baned from any type of publication ;
