Toyota, it will be worth twice what the ranger will be in 3yrs. go carmax.com and see what a 2003 truck is worth. this way if you get bored you won't be stuck in the ranger because you owe $10,000 and its only worth $5,000..

Without a doubt, the Tacoma. As most people here seem to agree, Toyota is much more reliable than Ford. So what if they're not all produced in the US. Apart from lasting longer, the Tacoma is a lot more stylish, in my oppinion. Plus, my Chemistry teacher a couple years ago has a Ranger, which she says only gets about 20 MPG. The Tacoma gets about 27 with a 4-cylinder, and a couple miles less with the V6. TOYOTA, man!!!!

Ford Ranger. I am in the same boat and that's my pick.

I have planned on a truck for a while so i would ask contractors and others who know how long a truck will last. Ford Ranger will last forever from what i understand. As well even longer if you take care of it. I as well was thin kin Toyota or other, which ever gets the best gas mileage. Ford Ranger's are relatively inexpensive, reliable and have a good resale value.
Ranger.

Nissan Frontier NISMO puts either of those two choices to shame and costs less than Tacoma. The Nissan out handles both and drives like a sports car through curves, but is tough as nails. Fords are dirt cheap, but they're worth about a nickel once you limp off the lot. Toyotas are for old people.

Sorry it's off your choices here but I've been looking into the Nissan Frontier. They are considerably better priced to the Tacoma and much more reliable and dependable than the Ranger.
Nissan is in the top 3 of the Japanese vehicles. They are an actual "truck". The new Tacomas come with plastic bed hooks... not what I call a truck these days.
The Frontier is rated one of the best in the mid-sized truck class.
If you do your research, you'll see what I am saying.

Hey - I was in the same boat as you but this is what changed my mind - Ford Rangers are very small inside, will be discontinued after the 2008 year, the seats are horrible, no major updates on it in over 10 years. The 4x4 4L V6 ranger is a gas pig. On the upside, they are cheap to fix, fairly dependable.... I have seen them with over 300,000K. The 3L is a good engine.

The tacoma is what i picked, costs more..... FOr the room it is way better....

Ranger has had alot of problems with the automatic locking hubs on the 4X4's too.............. We have em at work, lol.

I think that they're both good reliable trucks but I would get a Toyota Tacoma for their unbreakable reliability.
