As you can see by my yahoo name, I'm spiritual but not religious. I have studied these religions in addition to many others.

I believe God is infinite. We are finite and perceive only in 3 or 4 dimensions. We can never truly perceive or understand God beyond a very limited manner. (This is not an original thought - only borrowed from the "God-struck" philosopher, Spinoza.) I think all religions are correct to some extent but no finite religion can let you perceive God in his infinity.

As far as converting to any one particular religion, WHY? Do you really think that God (whatever God may be) in his infinite mercy is really going to condemn you to some kind of hell because you didn't choose the "correct" religion?

I think we all have the ability to "recognize" what is "truth" as it applies to ourselves. We just have to listen. To me, that's how you find God.

However, I believe that each person is at their own "level" of spiritual development. One level is not better than another. They are just different. For many people, that "level" of spirituality requires a religion. (Refer to a wonderful book by William James titled "The Varieties of Religious Experience".) If you think you need or require a religion then study and learn what you can and then follow your heart. Don't follow some clown who tells you he knows the "true path". History is full of those people. (I am not referring to Jesus or Muhammad when I say "clowns". I'm referring to preachers and ministers.) Listen to your heart and do what you feel is "right" for you.

Addition - since you added that I HAVE to pick one, it would probably be hinduism. I tend to be more eastern in both my philosophy and my spirituality. Also hinduism "seems" to me to be a religion that encompasses many schools of thought and tradition. I don't know enough about it to say definitely that "it is more tolerant" than the other two. Every religion has it's fanatics and zealots. However based on my studies it does seem to be less "dogmatic" than the other two choices. I don't get the feeling that the hindu religion thinks non-believers are going to hell. (However the non-believers may get a "downgrade" when it comes to reincarnation.)

Don't narrow it down to three religions because they're the three largest. The majority vote doesn't make it true. If that were the case, the earth would be a flat center of the universe. All religions teach the same basic message: Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you. In Islam, you do this through charity. In Christianity, you pray to God, asking him to help those out who are in need of his help. In Hinduism, you learn life's lessons through rebirths, hopefully treating your fellow creatures better through each life. The Golden Rule is also part of Judaism, Wicca, Baha'i Faith, Paganism, Buddhism, and almost every religion. Obviously, if I were Christian, I would be saying, "Well Christianity makes the most sense, and here's why...". But I'm not Christian. You shouldn't base your beliefs on those of others just because alot of people believe in the same thing, and want you to believe the same thing as well. Jesus strikes a chord in the heart of almost all Christians. I imagine this is a big part of why they worship Jesus. He works for them. But Jesus doesn't always work for all people. Allah works for most Muslims. Don't let people tell you what to believe. Decide for yourself. Try out a few religions. Attend a church service for several different denominations. Attend a synagogue. Attend a mosque. Attend some Hindu worship services. Decide which one makes you feel the most at home. Does Jesus work in your life? If so, be a Christian! If the Hindu god Krishna works in your life, be Hindu! If you find the most peace in life being a Muslim, then you know you've found your faith. I'm just saying, choosing your religion is a big part of your life. Don't let the majority influence you. Choose what you feel is right for you, not what's right for somebody else.

-----Edit------
But since you said "pick one", it would be Hinduism. Hinduism is a historically peaceful religion. When you die, no worries, you'll be reincarnated, with another chance to get it right. In my opinion, it has the best view on God(s): everything you see is part of God, the Ultimate Reality. You don't have to worry about which god is right for you: everything is a part of God.

Yes, I most certainly can choose NONE, and I do. How about Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, Confucianism and Shintoism? I do not find that any religion can be proven by logic and science. On the contrary, they can be disproven. Your question is like asking whether I want cyanide, strychnine or arsenic. You cannot force anyone to answer such unpleasant questions.

Why would I pick any of the three? They are all nonsense.

But I suppose if someone forced me at gunpoint to pick one, I'd pick Hinduism just because it's the least dogmatic of the three. But I still wouldn't believe it even if I was compelled to practice it.
