If a baby is born to a Christian mother and a non-christian father, wil the baby be considered Chirstian? Is it the same in all the different groups (Catolic, Mormon, ect...)? Does it differ from country to country?

Being a Christian is not like being Jewish. If a baby is born to a Jewish mother and a non-Jewish father, then the baby is considered Jewish according to the laws of Israel.

Whether a person is a Christian or not depends on what the person believes and does, not on the religious beliefs of his parents. If both parents are active Christians, and not Christians in name only; they will raise their children to be Christians.

To be raised as a Christian does not automatically make a person a Christian. The child must believe what his/her parents and the Bible teach.

Most Christians do not consider Mormons, Christians, because Mormons do not believe in the divinity of Christ. Many Protestant Christians do not see Catholics as Christians, but I don't know why. 50 years ago, the Catholic Church taught that Protestants were heretics and would go to hell if they didn't convert to Catholicism before they died. The Catholic Church has changed their teaching on this since then.

Then there are a few people like myself who believe that to be a Christian, means that the person believes that Jesus is the Son of God and tries to live by all of His teachings that are recorded in the Bible. I'm not saying that I am a good Christian, only that I believe that that is what determines who and who is not a Christian.

It's not a birth thing or some thing that's earned by being born. More or less it's the parents who raise and teach the child the ways of Christ and their faith. The child then seing the proof of the parents faith in Christ makes a choice his or herself to become a Christian, muslim, hindu, mormon, etc. Some on the other hand have differing views, and such that make you born into the religion etc. and others just plain do it by force. Christianity does none of these. It's taught, learned and when the choice comes most of the time the child chooses Christ. Hopefully. So NO you're not born into the faith or religion it's learned and passed on.

If you propose to be Christian, honey, raise your child in the way you believe. I hope that you are praying for your baby's father so that he may know the Lord as you do. If you raise your baby up with God your baby will have a good solid future ahead. And with the way things are going in the world, being on God's side is the way to go. Keep watching the sky.

In most cases, I think that is up to the parents to decide on how to raise the baby. I cannot imagine though a christian mother not wanting to raise her child to be a christian.

I do know however that my aunt is Lutheran and her husband is catholic. Their children are being raised Catholic because the Catholic church said that any child born into a house where one parent is catholic must be raised catholic.

I don't think the answer is as simple as it sounds though.

Christianity is a choice. You can't be born Christian, but you can be born in a Christian family.

Among the different denominations, there are different views on babies.

First of all religion will send you to hell! Sin is not imputed to a baby. The baby is heaven bound until the age of accountability.

Religion is false and tradition, True Bible believing Christianity is repentance toward God through Jesus Christ.

A person does not "inherit" Christianity when they enter a family. Following Christ is a choice that is made, you can't come to it through your family's beliefs. The parents would either decide to take that child to church, or not...but ultimately, it will be up to the child, and when she or he grows up, the young person, to decide for themselves who they believe Jesus to be.

Depends on the denomination. Usually the parents decide what the child will be raised as, then the kid chooses when they're old enough.
