i havent learned anything in school since the 8th grade, besides pre-calc and bio/chem, which i certainly will not need to do the job i want...im having a real hard time with english and history...they suck so much and I just want to go to college and learn the things that will make me successful and I know I will NOT be a newspaper editor ...so stop teaching me how to be a ‘published author’ type of person, its never going to work out

If you think that the only jobs that require you to understand and write English are "newspaper editor" and "published author" you've got a very narrow view of what life in the work force is all about. Having a career (and a real life, for that matter) is about learning how to solve problems. Most of the people I knew who were quitters in high school (that I'm still in touch with) are still quitters. And I don't envy the life most of them have. Very little of what I learned in college has made me successful. What's made me successful is learning how to work hard at whatever it is that I'm doing, and that started well before high school.
In answer to your question, 'why is high school so useless?' all I can say is that life doesn't always go your way, and the experience will only be completely worthless to you if that's what you decide you're going to take from it.

I think the reason school sucks is because you suck. English is used to communicate with your fellow men in an intellectual way. Its also used to learn what life is all about. English lit can be fulfilling and mind expanding if your open your mind to it. History lets you know mistakes of the past so that you can prevent from making them on your own in the future. And... if you think High School is rough, wait until you get to college.
Besides studies, high school is also something else that is just as important. Its a time to join, be a part of a special community, have experiences that you'll remember the rest of your life. Also, high school is one long test of endurance. In life, you will meet true endurance and if you can't handle high school, forget about being successful in life. If you're into pre-calc, bio and chem, I can see you have brain smarts and have the potential to be successful. But to date, it seems like you haven't grasped the art of common sense. Don't let life, pass you by, you'll regret it.
As for now I think its a shame that "youth" is wasted on the "young".
In closing, just remember that you really don't need high school and we always need people to do our yard work, so you'll be okay. If not yard work, many restaurants always need bus boys and dishwashers. I hear that Wal-Mart is looking for good people too.

High school is useless if you are smart and ready for college already. High school diploma makes a nice wall hanging but it can't get you a job over $10 an hour. So, when I have kids they won't have to go to high school if they know everything they need to write papers and they are mature enough to go.... I know high school was a total waste of my time when I was going - the teachers really sucked and didn't care if we learned anything anyway. Plus, we had to go over the same material indefinately so the retards wouldn't get too far behind... it's pathetic.

Well, classes like English and History are teaching you how to become a good citizen. You will definitely need that type of thinking in the future. I didn't like history and english either while in high school. The "Great Gatzby" by Fitzgerald was great, but other than that....bleh... I realize now how important those subjects are.

Perhaps you don't need to be a newspaper editor, but you need the same skill set in order to prepare a worthwhile cover letter and resume. Employers won't look twice at applications which are fraught with grammatical errors. It's a matter of professionalism.
You need to suck it up and bust your butt studying. I don't know if you plan on going to college, but it's actually considerably more difficult (albeit also more interesting) than high school.

I believe that you feel that way because they teach you theories and do not apply a lot of practice information to you. Like Algebra You have to learn it but you may not use it in the field you go into in college or in the workforce. but they have to teach you the basics....I believe that schools should show kids how they will exceed in life. Not everyone is cut out to go to college and not everyone belongs there. We need mechanics and tradespeople as well. To put it another way People who have the white collar jobs need us to fix the car, their hair, roof their homes etc...and just cause they work a white collar job makes them no better than us.

You must have learned something because you are writing and sending out emails. I am amother of two children one went to college and the other did not. You think going to high school is dumb..well that may be, but what you need to look at is the big picture for your life and to see where it is going. School is not fun, but you can make it fun. Being that you are bored with it, talk with you parents and see if you can get your GED test and then contiune on to something new, etc.
