there's always hope sweetheart! But, just as you put on the weight gradually, it needs to come off the same way or it will be too difficult. Try making little changes first, and be patient. With willpower and a good diet/exercise program, thousands of people much heavier than you have sucessfully lost weight, and there's no reason why you can't do the same. Think of it as taking one day at a time, and if you can change your habits for one day, every day, you will be successful. Either way you are going to have to eat to stay alive, which makes dieting harder than other kinds of problems..you can't just quit eating! However, making realistic changes in the way you are eating can have a gradual but positive effect. And lastly, learn to love yourself just the way you are, so that every ounce of weight you lose makes you just that much more fabulous! Self esteem shouldn't come with a weight attached, and acceptance is key in helping yourself to overcome a weight problem. Good luck.

1. Find your BMR (basal metabolic rate). This is the amount of calories your body needs to eat a day to MAINTAIN it's current weight. To be the most accurate, you need to figure your approximate daily activity level along with your age, sex, weight, and height. http://www.global-fitness.com/bmr_calc.p...

2. You can only lose a max of 1-2 pounds a week. Anything more than this is unhealthy and you will be losing MUSCLE instead of FAT. One pound of fat equals 3,500 calories. From diet and exercise you should aim to lose a MAX of 1 pound from diet and 1 pound from exercise. ALSO, in the first week of any diet, people usually lose a couple extra pounds of WATER weight. So if you do lose like 5-10 pounds the first week, it's mostly gunna be water (that's how those fad diets on TV work that say eat this and lose 10lbs a week.. they are misleading you).

3. From your diet, to lose a pound in a week you need to eat 500 less calories than your BMR a day (times seven days equals 3,500 calories which is one pound). Aim to cut out all junk food, soda, and sugar. Cut back on carbs--pasta, bread, cereal, etc. If you DO have to eat carbs, make sure they are whole grain. High fiber and high protein is the best. Fiber keeps you full and protein helps repair your muscles (and since you need to do some working out, you will need this). You can provide yourself with a small cheat meal every now and then, but if you don't find yourself losing weight, then you may have to cut the cheat meal out entirely.

4. The other pound a week should come from your exercise. Aim for 30 mins of exercise a day for 5 days a week. THE most important part about exercising is that you BRING YOUR HEART RATE UP. You can't expect to go to the gym and read your magazine while taking a stroll on the treadmill and think you are doing anything. If you are working out good enough, you shouldn't be able to read or talk to anyone easily.. doing this takes away from your workout anyway. During a workout, your heart rate should be in it's 65-86% max range. 220 minus your age is your max.. then you multiply that number by .65 and separately by .85 to get the range. Every two weeks you need to switch up your workout routine or up the intensity.. or else your body will hit a plateau and slow down weight loss.

5. Take measurements or get a body fat percentage analysis done. Scales will drive you nuts because as your FAT weight drops, your MUSCLE weight increases.. so your scale may move really slowly even though you are burning a lot of fat. Measurements and BF% are the best to go by.

Sure you can look good. You can look good at 220. There a plenty of plus size women who look good. Its all in how you carry yourself.

Be thin? I don't know if that's what you want. It's not about being thin. Its about being a healthy weight for your height/build. You need to find out what your BMI is and set yourself a target weight goal. It must be a REALISTIC target weight though.

Diet and exercise is the key.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Get latest info like American Heart Association does not want you to eat more than 6 ounces daily of meat, fish or poultry. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

You are obese, but yes you can lose weight and look good and be thin again. You need to make some drastic changes to your lifestyles to lose weight. You curently are 84 pounds overweight. In order to lose the weight, you need to cut calories and excersise a little bit everyday. And you need to see your doctor to see exactly how much excersise is healthy for you. Also you may want to try weight watchers or jenny craig they will make you a very good diet which if you follow you will lose the weight.
you can lose all that weight and look good again but its not going to happen in one day or one week or even in one month, its going to happen over the course of 6 months to a year. Its going to be a long haul but youll make it.

good luck

Get out of that mindset first. Being "thin" doesn't equal "look good." Strive for being healthy.

Start walking each night and try pilates. Eat healthily, and don't cut out your favorite foods. Just eat them in moderation.

This is going to be a lifelong commitment to health. It's not going to be a quick fix.

Don't pay as much attention to the scale as you do pant size. Also, buy slightly smaller plates. You won't be tempted to eat as much.

Good luck!

absolutely!!!! You can start by asking yourself what the hell you're are eating. It all starts with a good nutritional diet. Small portions and more frequent meals will get the metabolism going and start burning the extras. Quit making excuses about physical fitness and get off your but and start walking or muscle resistance. It is for free so you don't have to join a gym.

You sure can! A healthy diet and exercise/physical activity will help. Have you considered consulting a nutrionist? They can help you understand what to eat and what not to eat. They may even draw up an eating plan for you.
