The Goethals Bridge goes from Jersey to Staten Island. The airport in Newark is called Newark Liberty Airport. Most of Brooklyn is closest to JFK, with some exceptions. You could check a map.

i have been trying to work out which airport to use for my trip too.... i dont know NY but Ive been asking the people i know in NY & in UK who have been....
i have concluded that Newark (EWR) is not the best option if you are going into NYC... leaving you to choose between JFK & La Guardia (LGA) - as the other answers say it depends where you are going to & how you are getting their from the airport... but one thing to consider is your flight...
it will probably be cheaper to get a flight to JFK & it will almost certainly take less travel time as most flights from UK to LGA involve a stop/change. You can fly direct to JFK from most UK airports... so that may influence your decision.
Check out
www.panynj.gov./aviation.ht
for info on travelling form the airports by public transport.
Good luck! :)

Newark is really # 3 use it as a last resort. The reason being that you will have to pay tolls on the Goethals Bridge and if your driver is returning to Newark the Verrazano Bridge -Total $12.00
I don't know where you're going in Brooklyn or how you plan to get there so I'm going to be sort of general here
If you are going to use puplic transport- Air Train/ LIRR / subways then fly into JFK
If you're going anywhere in Southern BKLYN -Flatlands Canarsie , Bay Ridge ,Fort Hamilton and you plan to use a cab-fly into JFK
If you plan to go Anywhere close to the East river bridges and plan to use a cab fly into LGA and grab the BQE south

SEE HOW CONFUSING IT IS?
Parts of Brooklyn are closer to different airports. Thery are all exceptable but partly depending on where in Brooklyn, who you are traveling from th airport, and air cost.

I think New Jersey (can't remember name of airport)-the big one is pretty close. I have a friend in Brooklyn with no car-she told me it was the easiest to get to on public transport.
I hope I don't give you the wrong info-it's been awhile.

John F. Kennedy International Airport. Its close driving distance and has subway access. But be prepared to possibly be in heavy traffic on the Belt Parkway. I recommend if your riding in car is the Wan Wyck Expressway and change onto the Jackie Robinison Parkway.
