Impetigo is a bacterial infection which spreads by touch. so if your nephew has one lesion and he touches it and then touches another unaffected area.... the bacteria travels with the hand and reaches the next site. And this continues.....
He needs to take some oral antibiotic medicine. So meet a doctor. Proper hygeine is required in such cases.... You need to clean all the lesions with soap and water 2-3 times daily and apply an antibacterial cream.
Its not that once you get it you are more susceptible to get it again... What really happens is that if oral antibiotic is not started the bacteria doesnt really die and remain in dormant condition. Any new wound ( even the smallest of Scratch marks) gives entry to the bacteria in the skin and a new leion is formed.
If he is getting recurrent impetigo..... just take him to a doc and start oral antibiotics. Iam sure it will help

Yes....his immune system is down, but more importantly where is he getting it from???? Impetigo is pretty nasty stuff so EVERYTHING in the house and yard must be disinfected. You can use ammonia and dishsoap to disinfect / clean the yard in a hose-end sprayer. Go to www.jerrybaker.com and search the archived articles for more info on the yard thing.
On to the house. A combination of bleach (about 1/4 cup to a gallon) needs to be used to clean every surface, sides etc. of EVERYTHING. Then the floor needs to be cleaned as well, carpet can be shampooed with a rented unit (add a couple of tablespoons of bleach to the detergent - it shouldn't harm the fibers) and wood/solid floors should be mopped with the bleach solution as well.
Impetigo is typically spread through feces - human/dog/cat/etc. Once you clean everything up, make sure that his fingernails are kept short, IMMACULATE and sanitized. Keeping hand sanitizer close at all times and using it frequently will eventually break the cycle - as long as you've cleanecd up the source first.
Good luck!

Impetigo is a bacterial and very contagious condition. It is spread by touching the sores and by touched items such as towels and spreading it. A doctor will most likely give hime bacatracin a antibiotic oinment, plus I would sterilze his toys sheets pillows, nd he could be reinfecting himself. Another thought does he go to the same parks all the time or a play zone like the ones at Mc Donalds or Chucky Cheese as these place are just breeders for it.

My little girl got the Impetigo infection from another baby and I immediately rushed her to see the doctor. After the visit, I wasn't feeling very optimistic and my doctor didn't give us much confidence. In fact, I don't thnk he knew what he was talking about.
After finding he website, I was convinced after all fabulous testimonials and what he had to say. We used everything he outline in e-book and I was pleasantly surprised how fast everything worked exactly as outlined.
I didn't know something like this existed, but I'm glad I discovered it. My girl is healthy again and I have no more worries!
Get started and begin using fast Impetigo cure?

Yes. It is very contagious. Ask the doctor about more aggressive treatments. Keep the nose clean. Wash hands immediately and thoroughly after cleaning his nose. Change his linen daily if possible, especially pillow cases. Wash in the hottest water available and add bleach to kill the germs. Use tissues only once and discard them where no one else can come into contact with them. Try to keep the little guy from picking at the sores and wash his hands often too.
This should work.

Impetigo is a bacterial infection. It is SPREAD, usually by picking at sores.
Maybe your brother's illness is only partially to blame. Keep bandaids on those suckers! Or atleast start smacking your brother's hand away from those sores.

ok, enable's say I knew extraterrestrial beings are gonna abduct me and erase my ideas 24 hours earlier than it going on. i might collect all my closest friends, those i actually love and merely attempt and placed onto words what they have meant to me and that even with the undeniable fact that my ideas and memories would be long previous, as long as i'm myself i visit in no way overlook them. i might ask my mothers and dads and a few of those closest friends for forgiveness for all the flaws that I even have placed them by. And final, i might in all probability rob a band, commute to Las Vegas and then scouse borrow or purchase a Corvette ZR1 and race for the period of the desolate tract to l. a. contained in the evening (i've got consistently wanted to try this).

well, depending on his hygene rituals yes he can get it again.....
its not a disease that will haunt him the rest of his life.
it is fungal, not viral. if he has not kept the ointment on and not kept his hands and face clean for treatment long enough it doesn't go away unless it is totally cleared up.
make sure he is washing his hands and scrubbing underneath the nails.

The next time it occurs the wound needs to be cultured in case it is MRSA and then he should be put on an antibiotic regimen.

It's more likely that he keeps going around something/someone that is giving it to him.
Maybe another kid at school, farm animals, etc.
