Ephesians says that we should imitate Christ, but most people do not. Instead, they look the very opposite of Jesus...they look like the world. If you are a Christian, are you trying your best to look like Christ, or do you find yourself looking more like the world?

I don't have a clue what Christ looked like, but as a Christian I maintain clean, modest and appropriate attire. I don't wear skirts that show my butt, or blouses that show my breasts to the world. I have great legs, but I don't flaunt them. I wear shorts, but ones that go almost to the knees, no one can fault me on those. I wear jeans that aren't tight and skirts that are long because I love flowing skirts. I don't wear tight shirts and I very rarely wear make up because I have skin models would KILL for.
I keep my hair ( when I have hair, between brain surgeries; over the past 16 years, 35 ops and bald 3 times, half 4 times and in Sept I give my hair to Locks of Love because its been growing for 8 years now!! Yeah me!! LOL ) I keep my hair clean and modest- no crazy wild colors or styles for me ( except when half bald, but that wasn't my fault! LOL )
I don't wear cruddy jewelry and I don't bedeck myself with cheapo crosses because for one I don't believe Christ died on a cross ( do you research-- the Romans weren't USING crosses at that time period in history. They were using torture stakes and if you go back to the original greek/hebrew texts of that time, the Bible reads ' torture stake. besides, on a stake is the ONLY way that the prophecy could have come true about him being pierced in the side and no bone being broken and water flowing forth ). I think it is tacky to wear huge, ugly crucifixes. Its like, HEY!! LOOK AT ME!! I"M A 'Christian' AND YOU SHOULD THINK I'M SOOO SPECIAL AND AWESOMELY BETTTTTTER THAN YOUUUUU!!"
No, I don't do that. B'sides, if Jesus had been killed with a machete, would people wear machetes around their necks on gold chains? or little rifles? or swords if he'd been beheaded? C'mon, show some sense. If an air conditioner had fallen from an apartment window and killedhim. would you wear an ar a freon compressor? I don't think so.

That isn't the point.

Yes, I try to dress in the manner that would please Jesus, with modesty and decorum. I don't follow the latest, hottest trends and I try to always show good taste.

You imitate how Jesus led his life, not what he looks like, which would be impossible, since he was a perfect human being. He would have been a mountain of a man, having spent the majority of his life working as a Carpenter. His humility came from how he presented himself, not how he appeared. Consider that no one tried to stop him from turning over the tables in the Temple. They didn't know who or what he was. To them, he was just raving lunatic. He must have been really imposing as an individual.

I'm not sure if we should imitate Christ, so much as we should imitate his teachings.

No one can be like Jesus...that's almost impossible. He was God made man, He was the example to live by. I think we should learn from his teachings and impliment them as our own, i think we can all live by his teachings as closely as possible. But I don't think we can or should imitate him. To claim so would be boastful and reak of pride. Things Jesus was not.

At the end of the age he will have to seperate the sheep from the goats, the wheat from the tares - cuz right now who can say who is a real christain and who is not? Only God. Don't worry about other people's walk - just your own.

Absolute perfection is here and now, not in some future, near or far.
The secret is in action - here and now.
It is your behavior that blinds you to yourself.
Disregard whatever you think yourself to be and act as if you were absolutely perfect
- whatever your idea of perfection may be.
All you need is courage.
