Most people of Mexican decent have Spanish ancestors. When the Spanish came here and colonized the west coast (CA on down through Mexico) they married into the native population. Many natives were killed either in the taking of the land or by diseases that the conquistadores brought with them.
That is the very reason that Spanish is the core of their language and the native indian's language has all but died out.

So, in the same way there are fewer and fewer full native americans due to marriages with non natives etc., there are very few truly native Mexicans. However, there are those few that are.

If you have a Spanish ancestor, then there is a chance that you could ultimately find a common ancestor with some Mexicans. There are a few other countries who also colonized portions of Mexico, but nothing compared to the Spaniards.

The original inhabitants of the americas were the native americans, and they were composed of different tribes that lived throughout both continents waaaay back in the day. Today, in the modern world, in the 21st century, those continents have been divided into countries, with borders and stuff. No matter what heritage you have, citizenship is still pretty important. Some countries do citizenship-by-blood, and we still have this 'anchor baby' thing floating around, but by and large, the place where youre family is from is the country you're from. Unfortunately the records don't go back to like, 1315...the rhetoric goes back to the stone age, and off into bullshit-land, but it still all diverges from the main topic, which is 'what to do about illegal immigration today'. At the end of the day, Mexico still has massive problems in supporting its' citizens, and people will lie, cheat, and steal and WORSE to get into the United States any way they can. It's gotten ugly, and likely it will get uglier....

Some do. There are all kinds of etnic backgrounds in Mexico and all of Latin America. One of my favorite artists Frida Kahlo for example , her father was Jewish from Europe and her mother was a native Mexican woman.

Mexicans are a mix of people who came over the Bering Strait thousands of years ago and the Spanish who conquered it in the 1500s. The Spanish count as Caucasion. Anglo generally refers to American English speaking caucasion.
