I'm allergic to food molds and so that includes vinegar. I want to know if cider vinegar is the same and has mold too. They have different names, so they must be different somehow. Should I avoid both or is cider vinegar okay?

a vinegar it's a vinegar.

there are vinegar made from grapes (normal vinegar), sugarcane (alcohol), apple (cider), and the process its nearly the same, just the raw materials change.

Without thinking myself as an smart aleck ALL vinegars share the same characteristics. MOLDS...

Just use lemons instead of vinegar... you will not miss it.

try the link below...that may be the exception to the rule.

With malt, wine or cider vinegar, you ferment a sugary liquid with yeast to make an alcoholic liquid. In the case of malt, this alcoholic liquid is similar to beer, with wine vinegar you ferment grape juice to make wine, and with cider vinegar you ferment apple juice to make cider. Then you add a vinegar bug which converts the alcohol to acetic acid, and you've got vinegar. I'm surprised that being allergic to food molds makes you allergic to vinegar. None of the yeast is left in the vinegar. But if it's the vinegar bug that you're sensitive to, then you'll be sensitive to all these different types of vinegar, because they all use a vinegar bug.

Vinegar is vinegar, whether it's white vinegar, cider vinegar, wine vinegar, malt vinegar, tarragon vinegar, balsamic vinegar or rice vinegar. I wasn't aware of molds associated with vinegar, but if you're allergic, by all means avoid anything that says vinegar on the label, or anything containing vinegar, like salad dressings or other condiments.

cider vinegar is different from regular vinegar, yes, but I'm pretty sure they're essentially the same, which means mold. Ask a chemist.

Definitely avoid both. White vinegar is distilled and cider is not.
