ok...

does anybody know how to sort a list?
a list you created using Autofill (output of each cell is calculated using a function of several other cells in the spreadsheet)

is this even ******* possible? i am so annoyed right now..

i'm assuming the problem I am having is that because the cells' outputs are determined by the function I provided, it cannot sort since the sorted numbers conflict with the output it calculates using the equation provided.

omg help..excel sucks.

I am not sure exactly what your issue is but one common way to ensure clean sorts on calculated values is to copy the data you want to sort and paste values elsewhere in the sheet or workbook, then perform the sort on the pasted data.

The answers above work and another way to sort the list is to include the columns that have the data that is going into the calculation. If the autofill output is calculated using data all on the same row, then select the whole block of data before you sort and then choose the column you want to sort on.

I think I know your problem. You are not using absolute references to the the cells that you use in your formula. Use absolute references using $ e.g. instead of A4 use A$4 or $A$4. In the first case the row is fixed and in the second case both row and column. If you are sorting vertically, then the first should also work. Check absolute references in the Excel help.

Create another column and paste the contents of your formula column into it as "values". Sort on that column.
