I'll bet it's a yellow orb weaver. Check out

and see if it's one of the ones they picture.
These are not poisonous species.

I found this web site that has pictures close to your description. This could be the one.

Argiopes, mainly from the United States. In Australia, we call our variety St. Andrew's Cross but in the United States they are more commonly called a Black and Yellow Argiope. (Argiope aurantia). They are also known as Golden Garden Spiders or just Garden Spider and their scientific name is Argiope aurantia.

It is an Arigope spider. A more familiar name is the yellow and black orb weaver. It is harmless poison wise although it will bite or sting if it is picked up or feels threatened. Just watch it, they are very interesting creatures and they will rid your yard of pests.

Sounds like a Black and Yellow Argiope. I had one near my house (New York so not far from Ohio) and I thought it was poisonous, but looked it up online and found that it wasn't.

Probably just a garden variety spider that will eat pests out of your yard. Leave her be.

Contrary to it's name, it's called an orange garden spider, and although bug and scary, it's not poisonous to humans.
