I don't think Jesus is God or his son. But I do think there is a God. I always thought Atheists didn't believe in God? So I actually am not an Atheist. Why do so many Christians think that if people aren't Christian, then they don't believe in God? It's ridiculous.

That's what they were taught/programmed how to think.
And even though they will never suffer or gain the consequences of "YOUR" actions or non-actions if they're incorrect in the end, they will keep proselytizing and recruiting people to join them.
The person mostly interested in hearing what you have to say--is YOU!! And to them--Themselves.
Yes folks, they preach to be noticed-- by men & women who contribute to their worthless cause--Folklore & Ruin!!
Money and other Contributions are the main reason why they take an interest in the homeless people.
Each Mission brings in 1.2 Million Dollars a year. That's Alot!!
Of course their gonna deni this--Gotta defend the hand that feeds.
This is why I'd rather give what ever it is, directly to that person, no middle man involved.
In psychology, if one were to react the way a Christian does at a confrontation, the shrink would say they're in denial.
Christians are a Cult of people with ADD and ADHD.
They seem to be in self denial & seem to need attention from others to cope.
Attention = Energy ---Your Energy & Mine.
Christians also Invite/Infiltrate theirselves into your life. (Vanity)
Look at what they already did with the Native Americans, and the *****'s.
Look at what the beginning of a discovery has done to kids and their minds.
Do you think the Drug Cartel and The Black Market cares about us? They think of us like Cattle.
Christians think of us as Sheep.
WTF? Do I smell a connection here?
The list of Dementia is endless.

I don't cling to a religion, nor ever will.
I don't have any beliefs,
I am opposed to Slavery.
I don't follow anyone, especially blind guides whose tribe has never surpassed the physical plane, other than just dying.
I'd rather go with the Tale of the Mayans Culture, They did something with their Spiritual Energy, Other than using it to be Jabber Jaws or Motor Mouths to attract other peoples attention, for nothing but their Vain Glory!! http://www.angelfire.com/ut/branton/

I have the same problem. It seems that people are actually more irritated if you believe differant beliefs than they do, than if you're an athiest.

Reason: Human Nature ("Who's right" is always an issue for human beings.) So big is this issue for people, facts and results often get lost in arguements about who's smarter or who thought of it first

Prescripton: Forgive it, no matter how annoying. (Think of the people who irritate you as you would childred. Children are often self centered and arrogant. But - who with any heart could hate a kid?)

It's funny. As intelligence increases, there is a corresponding decrease in religious belief, especially strong religious belief (fundamentalism).

This could mean that if you are not a Christian, you are seen as more intelligent, therefore more likely to be an atheist or agnostic. Definitely my kind of assumption.

You sound like you might be a Deist (there is reason to believe God exists). Sadly, despite holding the high ground, some Deists are as fanatically anti-Christian as some Christians are anti-Deist
(check out http://www.deism.com/ ). A better description is here:
http://www.religioustolerance.org/deism.htm

Even as a strong atheist, I can respect the Deistic view - which in some ways makes more sense than mere agnosticism.

technically everybody is an atheist in some way until u have faith in each and every god possible yet that would desire to be contradicting between religions. atheism is disbelief or doubt in all or any gods Christians have been as quickly as referred to as atheists through fact they did not have faith interior the roman gods. Christians are in simple terms vast on assumptions, they have an inclination to additionally assume different issues like; atheists worship the devil, atheists in simple terms like to sin, human beings of alternative religions are lost or evil, everybody it rather is not in my sect of Christianity is going to hell reason they don't look to be a real christian and that i'm, Jesus will return in my lifetime, etc... Its as a rule through their blind faith of their pastors and the bible, to boot as their loss of genuine expertise and information. They stay in a delusion worldwide of their own wherein they think of everybody that doesn't have the comparable ideals are going to hell, that they might desire to be saved, won't be able to be relied on and that the worldwide is ending.

For one thing, people, and especially the type of people who tend to be Christians, like seeing things in black and white. Something is this or that, one way or the other. This approach works well in some instances, but poorly in others. One place where it works especially poorly is in dealing with other people.

Also, Christians believe that there is only one God, the God of Abraham, the Father of Christ. If you don't believe in that god, then you don't believe in any god in their eyes. Anything else is just one of Satan's lies.

Yes, I understand your frustration! I'm a Hindu, and people always assume that I'm Atheist or Agnostic since I'm not a Christian. I suppose that it is just because most people in my country and area are either Christian or nothing. I don't live in a very culturally or religiously diverse area, so that is just an assumption that people will make.

Because by nature, when you are brought up in a religion (and I dont think you can call what you believe in a religion, from what you say you just believe in a higher power, or creator), you are thought from very young about those who believe in God, and those who don't. Little reference is made to those who believe in other gods, and for consistency, if you belong to a faith (say Christian), the teachers teach you that you either believe the whole thing or else if you don't you are out of the club and on your own two feet. There are no shades of grey in religion as thought (as practiced it is a rainbow!).

So please don't be offended by these Christians.

Just for something to think about, please don't be offended, but even you, (and I and everyone else) are often biased towards what we see around us (i.e. our limited world). I mean, at least the Christian religious leaders of our time are not advocating death to the infidels, as some other (in my mind wayword) religious leaders are doing now and as Christian religious leaders did 100s of years ago.

Yes it is stupid. I don't get it when people ask me why I take off for Yom Kippur. They ask, aren't you Christian and I say no I am Jewish. If you don't believe in G-d, you are an Athiest, if you believe in G-d but don't practice a religion, you just believe in G-d. Some really hardcore Christians will not let people go by with not believing in G-d and to them G-d is Christ and the Holy Spirit. So even though some Christians understand I am Jewish, they don't get that I don't believe in Christ or why I wouldn't. My advice to you would be just believe what you want to believe and ignore people who just try to use their religious beliefs to try to get into your think tank.

my sister had a similar conversation at work. she asked why it was that some christians look down on those who are not baptized. she believes in God. she said that as christians, they shouldn't be judgemental of others yet they are the most judgemental of those who do not believe as they do. she said being baptized involves much change in ones life and many are not able to live up to the standards required. so she wouldn't get baptized because she doesn't want to start something that she can't finish. her so-workers came down on her like the second coming! they couldn't believe she would say something so blasphemous! it's been a few days and they are still talking about it. she doesn't care! their behaviour is proving her point!

It's the 'You're either with us or against us' mentality. There is no grey, just black and white. They don't think that you might be a different religion or agnostic.

The poster above me just proved my theory....

And for those who have no idea what agnostic means here's the CORRECT definition from www.dictionary.com :

ag‧nos‧tic [ag-nos-tik]
–noun 1. a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.
2. a person who denies or doubts the possibility of ultimate knowledge in some area of study.

–adjective 3. of or pertaining to agnostics or agnosticism.
4. asserting the uncertainty of all claims to knowledge

To dumb it down for you:
An agnostic has no proof that God exists, nor does he have proof that he does not exist. It is impossible to say that God does or does not exist.
