Thanks for any answers. I am Catholic and against it but I just wasn't sure if any of these were against it too.

I am aware that atheists are not heartless. I have some good atheist friends. I am just not sure of their stance on this issue.

VERY few unbelievers are actually "in favour of" abortion. Abortion is a traumatic experience for the patient, that she is likely never to forget. So, nobody is in favour of that. Now, what some of us are in favour of is the legalisation of abortion (quite a different thing). I for one, think that some people ARE going to do it anyway, so instead of letting them do it in terrible conditions and die as a consequence, it's better to do it in healthy and sanitary conditions, in safe hospitals and by experienced doctors. That doesn't mean I am in favour of abortion. That means only I'm in favour of letting some women do it and not penalise them for that.

But then again, I think abortion shouldn't be legal until we all are aware of what it really is. I'm afraid that some people (especially teens) could be rather carefree about it, and just stop taking contraceptive measures, as they can always abort later. It's necessary to give a lot of real and sincere information of what abortion actually is. And it is important to let people know of the risks. Then, and only then, when people are educated, and they know it's a measure to take only when everything else has failed, I would totally legalise abortion.

I'm against abortion, but only because there are other options to consider; birth control is highly effective, and even if the BC fails, there are thousands of childless couples waiting to adopt.

On the other hand, I believe that I have no right to tell a woman what to do with her body, so when election day rolls around, I prefer to vote for the pro-choice candidate.

Most atheists I know are pro-choice, although no doubt many are pro-life. I'm an atheist myself and I'm pro-choice. Why? A sample of reasons:
(1) I could never tell a 13 year old rape victim that she had to carry her rapist's baby.
(2) I think it's worse to bring an unwanted child into the world than to end an unwanted pregnancy
(3) I don't think a foetus or an embryo is a real life form. I'm aware of the presence of a heartbeat and so forth, but until a life form is capable of independant existence, it is not alive. If it was, I would be committing murder if I chopped off my own finger (a living part of me with a pulse, et cetera).

That's not a definitive list of reasons, just a sample.

I am pro-choice because I think every person should have the option of all choices available. However, I myself would never have an abortion as an alternative because that doesn't fit me.

I believe if I were female, I would be against it for me.
But I am not, so I leave it to women to make their own best decision. I know many have a difficult time with it - there are very many reasons a woman might choose abortion, and who are any of us to make blanket statements about it?

I'm an athiest and i'm against abortion. Just because i don't believe in god doesn't mean I'm heartless. Wether it's an accident or not that baby is a living thing and it deserves a life. Simple as that.

I don't agree with it being done in the third trimester, but I,m not going to blow up an abortion clinic over it.

I don't agree with it, but I don't think that it is my place to make decisions for other people, and ESPECIALLY don't think that the GOVERNMENT should make such decisions for other people.

Thus, I am prochoice, but I would never choose abortion.

agnostic.

Yes. Life begins at conception as far as I'm concerned, and that makes abortion murder.
