The weather

Most modern day CB's now come with the weather band. Some have an alert feature that (on the pre-programed WX Ch.) will give an alert, over riding the CB when that weather channel sounds one. Even most all of the motorcycle CB's now have that feature.

You can program the radio to alert you anytime the National Weather Service issues a weather alert for your area via their own radio station(s). When they initate a warning or an alert, they transmit a code that turns on weather scanners automatically. In effect, there's one of those scanners built into your CB unit.
But you do have to enable it - just read and follow the directions in the manual that came with your rig.

WX is an abbreviation for weather. Your radio apparently has a feature where you can either switch to a weather station or it will break in with a severe weather report when one is issued.

It should be the local NOAA weather alert channel. This is active when severe weather is near your location, or it may be used to broadcast current weather information. (i.e. current temp, wind speed, etc.)
