You must have heard of the IRSC - Indian Railway Service Commission. You should qualify for this competitive test and enter the 'operations' division. Sky is the limit for growth in this route.
Alternatively you can try your luck in securing a job in the design or manufacturing institutions of the Indian Railways. Chittaranjan Locoworks, Varanasi Diesel Engine Works, Egmore/Kapurtala/Palghat body building works, Central Railway Design and Research Institute in Nagpur are some of these institutions.
