My Doctor called me this morning to tell me I have a positive pregnancy test. Since there is no way that I could be pregnant, no chance at all, I am wondering what it means. I have to take another blood test and an ultrasound, but there is no way I could be. So what could it mean when a blood pregnancy test says I’m pregnant and there is no way I could be?

The last time I even touched a guy was when I accidently bump into someone on the street. And I didn’t ask for the test. She just did it, don’t know why, I didn’t ask. But every time I get blood taken, different doctors, do a pregnancy test. Even though I tell them there is no way my GIRLFRIEND could get me pregnant.

I would say its a hormone imbalance and talk to the doctor. Generally blood test are accurate but if you have not had sex with a male then it is pretty impossible.

What a + blood test in regards to pregnancy means is an increased B-HCG level. The most common cause of an incre. HCG level is pregnancy (either normal or ectopic), molar pregnancies, or even a lab error. Why do you say there is "no way" you could be preg...if you are still a virgin or havent had any sexual contact whatsoever in the past few months, then that is really the only way you can be 100% sure. Just using the pill or a condom isnt a way to be 100% . The follow up blood test and US the doc ordered is a good place to start. Goodluck.

This may sound weird but it's true I had a miscarriage, I didn't even know I was pregnant ( I was only 2 or 3 wks), the baby came out but the sac didn't, I didn't find this out for several months, I never missed a period, the sac was still inside of me. I had the extra hormone inside even though I had no baby, so a pregnancy test was positive I didn't know for several months. I had to get a D & C to clean out the stuff that didn't come out naturally then all of the sudden I wasn't pregnant anymore. I don't know if this could happen to you or not I have no idea if you've always had a g/f or what but this could be a cause of the hormone reading positive when you know your not pregnant.

Your body is producing HCG. I had this happen with an ovarian cyst. It produced a small amount of HCG and I would get a positive result on a pregnancy test. I had to have that ovary removed due to the cyst engulfing it completely, but many times they can be removed without having to take the ovary as well. They should be able to tell on an ultrasound or a CT scan. Don't panic, if that's what it is, it's more than likely benign. They'll biopsy it just to make sure though. Good luck!! =)

I'd just let them do the ultrasound. That'll be even more accurate than the blood test, which can be messed up.

Or, it's possible that you just have a naturally high level of some hormones that are tripping the test, or something like that. I know that there are some diseases that can mimic pregnancy symptoms, but I don't know of anything that would result in a positive test, when there's just no way.

Good luck with it all!

unless you have had a hysterectomy or never touched sperm you could be pregnant- I will assume you know this, but you have not specified why you could not be pregnant so I felt I should mention that... but besides the point- some types of homone imbalances, tumors and cancers have been known to throw off pregnancy tests. I am sure there are other issues too, that can cause that to happen, but for now don't stress on it- the ultrasound will tell all...

So by you saying there is no way that you can be pregnant Im going to assume you have not been sexually active... and if thats the case then it must be an incorrect result... What I want to know also is if there is no way you could be pregnant why did you have a blood test done by the Dr.

Have you ever had sexual intercourse or had semen come in contact with your genitals (even if the guy didn't ejaculate inside you)?

If so, it's definitely possible for you to be pregnant.

If not, then something is up. Call your doc and tell him or her that you've never had any sexual contact that could lead you to be pregnant. It's possible they mixed up the results or maybe that the test is wrong (I'm not sure if this could cause the hormone levels to be weird, but sometimes women have false pregnancies).

Are you saying that you have been abstinent, because generally you aren't going to get a false positive, a false negative is far more likely. The tests identify certain hormones or chemicals in the body, so I'm not sure how you can get a false positive reading, but definitely go get an ultrasound, that's your best bet.

Your right your girl friend can not get you pregnant, let them do another test, some times there are false positives. I've had friends who have had false positives. Tell your Dr. about your girlfriend and explain to him that is why there is no way that your pregnant.
