If you have a good job, just got promoted, then a raise........ how do you tell your boss that you are dating a co-worker in another department? Problem is, his reputation. Mine is crystal clear, and his is not. He really cares for me, and every day, I care more for him..... but, the job and my goals are making me second guess. HELP.

Why would you tell the boss anything about your personal life? That's crazy. If he wants to know so bad let him do the leg work. Another thing in regards to the relationship in general, because it is a coworker involved keep it on the DL.

When comes to where you work at ask yourself this," Where do I want to be at in five years?" See how you are answering that. Then see how they compare to your goals. You maybe able to help your partner on the job also in regards to his reputation and his goals.

This relationship is not all bad. It may end up being a very good thing for you two.

There's too much man out there to lose your job (career maybe) over one. Think about this: What does he do for you and/or to you that is so worth losing what you've built all this time. I'm not saying dump him immediately or even at all necessarily, but since you posed the question, you have to consider that. Leave the boss out of this until you really know which way you're going to pursue this further. You could be out of your job and your man before you know it, and you may not have had to sacrifice either. Hope this helps.

IF YOU TELL YOUR BOSS YOU ARE SEEING THIS PERSON YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST CLEAN OUT YOUR DESK AND START LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JOB.

DON'T TELL ANYONE AT WORK YOU ARE DATING OR ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY SIMILAR.

Your boss can fire you for sexual harassment if your relationship sours and it interferes with your work. It is really best that you deny any relations with the co-worker if ANYONE asks. Tell your co-worker that you can only see each other after work at a place where your other co-workers won't notice you. Don't even talk to this co-worker at work. Trust me on this......

Check your policy manual to see if it is against regulation. If not you probably do not need to disclose this details to your boss. By the way, if he has a bad reputation at work, he probably will struggle with future jobs too. And if you are thinking about your career over him, you probably are not to the point where you can't stop and look for someone else. Good luck to you!

Unless its company policy not to date a fellow co- worker then you have reason to worry, even then I don't think it should be a problem if it does not interfere with your work after all you allowed to have a private life. Unles you got all these things i.e promo and raise 'cos you sleeping with the Boss.....then if thats the case....all hell's gonna break loose if he finds out!

Good Luck.

You already know the answer. Not to just "should I tell my boss?" but to the whole relationship. If you are ALREADY second-guessing this guy - cut it off NOW - before it becomes too hard to do so - or you feel as if you're making a point by staying with him. Perhaps you think you can "fix" him.
Get out NOW. You're not too deeply in that you can't. Please - for your own good, and not just job-related either.

You already know the answer to this one. If you are uncertain about telling your boss about this relationship, it's because your subconscious is warning you against it. You say his reputation isn't great. Obviously, that matters in your job, in your position -- and in your life. Listen to your feelings. You won't be sorry.

I would not tell my boss. If your boss doesn't know, he could think you just flirt with the guy a lot. Most bosses don't want you to date within the company,
