I just happened to be flipping through the channels today and found a televangelist with his head bowed in prayer. He was praying to God to heal a viewer, who he knew had to be sitting there watching. I rolled my eyes and turned the channel. Fifteen minutes went by and I decided to flip through once more ( I was looking for info on Steve Irwin's death --RIP).
The same preacher is now holding hands with a woman(wife?) praying for yet another ill viewer.
Who is believing this S@#+?!?!?!?!
Comments please.................

You ill-fated hypocr....well never mind: I never could spell very well....., but you are going to burn in hell for that unbelief. I'll tell you who is believing this S@#+?!?!?!?! : the millions of little old ladies who send in generous contributions to keep them on the air.
Good question. Drew, give them a million points for that question.

Well, they put on a really good show. They have people strolling around in the audience (with telecommunications devices attached), overhearing people talk about why they're there, and other details about their lives.

Then the preacher comes on and -- yousa -- Knows All This Stuff About These People's Lives!!! What else could it be but the Looorrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddd -- let me hear ya say halli-f*ck*n-luia, brothers and sisters.

Adrenaline (sent by the lord) shoots through the victim's -- whoops, I mean believer's -- body, and, ...

Well, as I've said before, I've been on this site way too long today.

Just saw an answer to another question recounting how You Know Who saved a believer who fell a great distance, but merely broke a couple of bones in the fall. 'Cause he belIEVed, or had been saved, or something.

These folks really know their social-psychology.

While God does gift some people with the ability to be used in the healing process, the person you described sounds like the people Peter wrote prophetically about in this passage from the Bible.

2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

While there are a few legitimate preachers on TV like Charles Stanley or David Jeremiah, most of them are questionable at best and outright charlatans at worst. These are the type of people because of whom "the way of truth will be blasphemed" as "in their greed they will exploit you with false words". :o(

No they can't. Praying for someone certainly can't hurt anything, but when they start ripping people off for money it does start to hurt someone. When they start to convince people the only way is prayer and people start to pass up actual medical help then it hurts someone.
Unfortunately the ones who believe it and send the money are often those who can't afford to send the money.

I believe that God gives certain traits or gifts to certain people. Now, I am not saying that I believe that some of the preachers on tv are healing folks. I do believe that people may have that gift, but most likely, they are not on cable.

The bible says that we have the power to heal the sick and drive out demons in Jesus' name. I'm assuming you saw Benny Hinn on tv. I believe he is a chosen healer. Yes I do believe he can heal people.

Well they wouldn't do it unless the money kept rolling in so unfortunately it's probably a bunch of lonely old people who send their SS checks in all the time.

Yes if the Holy Spirit of God allows.

Only God can heal. It is never the preacher.

It is God's decision... Maybe the preacher just wasn't as confident as he needs to be that God is listening. God is always listening... and he always answers prayer. "No" is still an answer... even if we don't like it.
