I drove one for about two hours.
it performed well, felt tight over bumpy roads and railroad tracks.
The transmission was smooth and worked quickly when you floored the gas. Then slipped back in to high gear as soon as I let up.
I was impressed with it.
It has a cooler in the glove box. Probably uses the A/C!
Several other features that were really nice.
I is built at the same plant as the neon, but it is so much better than the neon.
check one out at your local Dodge dealer.
Watch for a Jeep version of it with all wheel drive.

They might be, but they are expensive if you want any options like air and automatic. I would get a Toyota Matrix if you want the same configurations as a Dodge Caliber. My uncle owns a Matrix that's racked up 150,00 miles without any problems. I can't say from personal experience that Dodge has any corner on the market for reliability right now.

It depends what you mean by good? If you mean reliablity, it's too soon to tell since it's an all-new vehicle this year. If you mean the way it drives, it's terrible! I test drove one with the 2.0L engine (mid-choice engine) and the CVT automatic transmission, which is the ONLY automatic offerred. Because of the CVT transmission, it drove terribly! It makes the car feel like it's terribly underpowered and the transmission feels like it's slipping as you accelerate. When cruising on the highway, giving it a slight bit of gas to pass or go up a slight incline causes the engine to rev well above what you'd expect. 4,500rpm in the case of my test drive at 70mph. If you're doing anything other than just cruising on flat ground, the engine is always revved way the heck up above 4,000rpm. Terrible, just terrible. It was so dissapointing because it was actually quite comfy and roomy inside and not too noisy for my tastes, except for the always screaming engine. What a stupid, idiotic design!
