There are 6 types.
A birthmark is a blemish on the skin formed before birth. They are part of the group of skin lesions known as naevi. The cause of birthmarks is unknown, but may include cellular damage due to radiation or chemicals. Some types seem to run in families.

I really don't know. Unless freckles are counted as birth marks, I don't have one.
If freckles are counted then damn, according to one posters comments about Sylvia Brown saying that they are battle wounds from past lives......I have been through hell and back........lol

Its extra pigmentation. Kinda like freckles.
