This is kind of...... a summorized question of my other question because that one took too long to post >_< um.. you can see the LONG question if you look at my other questions....... BUT anyway..

In short, my boyfriend says that i dont consider myself very important (and i dont... i feel as if i am a slave to humanity)

Im not depressed.. Im not sad.... i feel very stoic.. i feel.... weird to things.. like.. There's things i hate and things that i dont mind.. not many things go into the category of things i like.... I just really dont like anything for some reason :\

and im wondering WHY do i feel this way? and how can i feel more important?

also i was curious.. how can i 'learn' to like things again??

(I go to psychoogists and stuff but they dont seem to help....)

thanks so much XP...

Hey Cait,
I know how you feel. I've been there . I know one way that I found to feel better about myself was to find a way to help others. IF I could help someone ELSE, it made ME feel better. Do you do any kind of volunteer work? There are all kinds of opportunities where you could reach out and do just a little bit of volunteer work and feel better about yourself . I know that , being legally blind, there are alot of people out there that could simply use rides to and from the grocery store and doing errands. If you are a crafty person, there are classes you could volunteer to teach at adult ed. centers or at homes for the disabled or elderly . You could volunteer at your local schools to help with their numerous project that they always have going on all of the time. Check with Schools, Human services or Local Charities to see if they could use some help. But becareful NOT to take on more than you could handle so that you don't become overwhelmed and then get depressed over being stressed!! We wouldn't want THAT to happen!!

I don't know what else I can tell you, Cait, but I sure do hope that this helps. If you want to talk more, would you please email me? I would love to talk more. I have gone thru similar depression and know how it can be. If I have helped, I am glad.

So you don't feel depressed and have been to psychologists. OK, that helps us offer more detailed opinions. Do you feel important at work?

Maybe someone has suggested this, but I've found that volunteer work in an area you're interested or skilled in, can make you feel important. It has for me. If you have time to do this, it would be great to find appreciation there. Use the web to find these volunteer opportunities, or for paid job positions that will offer the same.

You kinda sound like you're not having feelings in either direction. Do you have family that needs you? Even if they might not openly express appreciation...believe me, they do.

I don't know if this will help but you just described me. I am suffereing with the same issues. I have tried getting involoved with the community in a variety of ways. and as soon as the other people in the group start to notice what I can do and they start to voew me as a helpful and useful person for some reason that is when I shut down and start to feeel "used". It is weird I know but I don't know how to deal with it.

I know that you said you are not depressed but you still may be. You may not feel depressed but You may still be in a depression. Go to the medical doctor and a counselor. See what the doctor says.

Well for one thing you got to want to feel important for you. Take time for yourself and read some self help books if you like to read. Most of all just enjoy and love you and later for what you boyfriend saids he might have a problem with himself.

to feel important, be important to someone, the best way i know of is to donate your time and or talents to someone that needs it more than you do. I crochet blankets for aids babies, i make cat toys that the local humane shelter sells, i take them cat food, and i also foster mother sick animals till they can find them a spot at the shelter. i visit nursing homes just to take some of my extra flowers in, i grow lots of flowers. you can be important to people who dont even know how to tell you what you mean to them.

be satisfied with who and what you are, don't try to be who you are not !!, if you feel a lesser person think of the good you have done the love you have given!!
these things make you very important especially to the recipients.
