Than no conservative?

When dealing with the constricted thought patterns of the conservative individual we have to consider their upbringing. In some families politics are set in stone. Are they more brain washable? Well do you believe in the bible or is it just another collection created by man? I would assume that most of the conservatives in this country are highly religious or use it as a way to control their agenda. I would also assume that highly religious people would be more likely to get sucked in to a campaign created on false information. But on the same level an extremely liberal person may be open to such a disbelief. In the end the question of honesty will be answered at the polling stations unless they are rigged or perhaps when the brainwashed conservative finally realizes that he or she has been used as a pawn and then votes against their own party. I think it has happened before and it will happen again.

No. In fact, it seems to be the other way around. It is far easier to be a liberal. It is only after one gains wisdom and knowledge that conservative ideas make more sense. They are much more nuanced and thoughtful, whereas liberal ideas are much more knee-jerk range-of-the-moment emotional responses.

For example: if you ask a kid how you can reduce the number of poor people, their answer would be to just print more money. Well, with a little more knowledge, better reasoning ability, and more sense, a person would know that that would not do a thing for poverty.

Same thing with entitlement programs. You ask a person with a middle school mentality how to solve poverty, and they'd likely say, well, just take money from some people and give it to others. Again, with a little more knowledge and better reasoning skills, and a better understanding of what money is and how it relates to actual wealth, and how wealth is created, you could see, again, how this is a flawed approach.

Conservatism requires one to look beyond the simplistic answers, the easy, shallow solutions, and accept that often reality is a little complex than what it appears on the surface. That's why young people, people without much education, and people not accustomed to thinking deeply about any subject tend to be liberals. It provides the easy answers. As people grow older and more educated, they tend to see the validity of conservative arguments.

Often people say conservatives believe what they do because they are rich, and just acting on self-interest. Again, another shallow liberal analysis. As people become more educated, and older, they move into higher-paying jobs. But also, as a person ages and becomes wiser and more knowledgable, the conservative argument makes more sense.

I think less likely. Seems to me that Conservatives are usually open to all ideas, but require persuasive arguments and established facts, rather than just opinions, and hence are more likely to weigh and consider the 'brainwashing' techniques than others. Liberals tend to get emotionally involved in issues, sometimes with little analysis of the facts. I'll give you an example -- ten thousand years ago, most of north america was covered by ice, and five thousand years from now (maybe less), most of north america will be covered by ice again. does a degree or two increase in the earth's temperature now matter much? is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Negative. Haven't you heard the saying, "Herding conservatives is like herding cats"? You get the picture. If you want to see an example of "sheeple", look at your average "nonconformist" liberal. It is amusing to see that they are nonconformist in almost indentical ways!

Everybody is brainwashed when they are very young. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.

The worst brainwashing is the politicization of people. It doesn't matter if they are right, left, green etc.

If you are politicized, then you are brainwashed because you think in terms of stereotypes and political bigotry, rather than seeing yourself and others as individuals.

Nah. I'm a moderate liberal (or liberal moderate!) and know lots of moderate conservatives. It's the fringes on both ends that are scary and, in my opinion, easily swayed by simple rhetoric and easily manipulated.

Ignorance makes people easy to train. Ignorance that thinking the news has all the truth you need to really know what is going on, and what your favorite politician or political party says is true just because it sounds good to you.

No. Being conservative takes the capacity to question the media and academic elites.
