Is there a splint that can be made or sold and how long should they be in one?

The puppy hasn't come yet. He is being shipped to me. Unfortunately the breeder has not been helpful and I will be taking him to the vet as soon as I get him.

This is going to sound a little strange, but you can use a tampon taped in place with thin strips of surgical tape. That's a trick that German sheperd and Dobermann breeders use to support a pup's soft or cropped ears.

Replace the tampon every two or three days to make sure that the ear is clean and dry. If there's any sign of irritation or redness, remove the tape right away -- your dog may be allergic to the adhesive.

Hope that helps!

After the dog's ears have been cropped, your vet should wrap them but after that it's up to you to take care of the ears so that they stay properly. Often, the ears are taped to something like a cup or small bucket on the head for some time. It's really cute.

I've seen good results using a Styrofoam coffee cup and taping the dogs ears around it. Depending on the age of the dog, the diet, etc., I would say you may have to un-tape and check them out regularly until your dog is around 6 months. Whoever cropped for you should have given you advise .... seems that they were rather remiss! See if you can find a local breeder of Boxer's, Dane's, Dobe's and they may be able to give you hands on, visual instruction.

The vet who crops them should wrap them right after so they'll stay up. They should be up when the wraps come off. The vet will tell you when

After I had my dog's ears cropped, I used a small syrofoam cylinder to keep it upright and nonstick medical tape to keep it in place.

If a tampon doesn't work, my schutzhund club president uses the center from a toilet paper roll.
