That really depends on the individual person. Male/Female. Level of physical activity. My husband consumes approx 2500 calories a day. He works hard at his job, and also goes to the gym 3 times a week. Were as I consume any where from 1500 to 1800 calories a day. I work as a registered nurse, go to the gym 3 times a week. And take care of my house and family. We try to make sure most of our calories are healthy, and not empty calories like from junk foods. I know this is a long answer. But the only way I could explain the whole calorie intake process.

All depends if you work out or not and if you are guy or a girl or what your life style is. Average diet should be 1800-2000 calories/ day. If youre a guy and work out a lot maybe more like 2400. If youre a woman and want to loose wieght maybe more like 1600-1800. If you know how many calories a day that you consume and you are working out and you are not loosing weight then I would decrease the amount of calories by 200 and try that for awhile and so on. Everyone's caloric needs are different

It really depends on if you're a man or a woman, and how active you are. I'd say 2000 is a good estimate, but many men need to take in more calories than that.
Good luck! (And really-don't worry too much.)

Depends on your weight, and if your are trying to gain/lose/or maintain your weight. To maintain your current weight, your calorie intake should be 10 calories per pound of body weight.
FDA recommendations mean nothing to me, because they weren't made for me

That depends on your height and desired weight, and your level of physical activity. Without those figures, it's impossible to determine.
