Happened to me one time ... and felt like an idiot ... 'cause I tried eating a little of it, and munching on something else ... my friend hadn't tried it yet and had asked me how it tasted, I kind of fibbed and said it tasted okay and tried to stomach another bite ... they took a bite and said omg this is friggin nasty .. how can you be eating it ... why didn't you tell me ... so mmm generally if they are a good friend, and they ask you how you like something, sometimes the best thing to be is truthful, and maybe just say it isn't really to your liking and leave it there :)

The best thing to do is to get your friend (the host) to a quiet corner and tell him or her about the food. The food may not have been properly prepared (undercooked/ overcooked/ or lacking in some main ingredients...etc) or the food is spoiled and not suitable for consumption at all. You don't have to pretend to like it but at the same time you should'nt embarass your friend by making any strong or negative comments about the food in front of other diners.

well i usually keep eating and pretend i like it but yet i dont eat all of it. i usually just take a few bites then start on something else or say you are full. if u think someone might not be a good cook eat a little something before you go, that way if it aint good u aint gotta finish it u can just say ur full.

Chances are they'll have some other side-dishes you can eat so just eat more of them. If your friend notices that you've not touched a certain food, they might ask you about it and you can politely respond that you don't care for the taste of it. If they're any kind of friend they'll understand.

Eat at least some of it. It may taste horrid, but it is the polite thing to do. If you are given a napkin, you could transfer the food into that, excuse yourself to the restroom, and flush it away.

Ha, this happened to my entire family. We went to visit my brother's friends (my mother, my sister, my brother and I) and they served the most disgusting lasagna I ever tasted. I knew my fellow family members thought the same.
We just all exclaimed how delicious it was during the entire dinner and swallowed it down with our beverages.
We didn't speak upon returning to my brother's house, but the next day he asked me what I thought of her lasagna and I told him it was the most disgusting lasagna I ever tasted.

I think it's pretty rare for people to cook for guests without knowing their food preferences first. They really want the meal to go well, after all.
But if it does happen, eat as much of it as you can. The first mouthful of something new is often a little strange but usually improves as you get used to it. If they ask, say it was 'interesting'. They'll work the rest out for themselves!

Eat a spoon full, try another dish, and not be very hungry...don't know what else to tell you without being rude. What can you do? Tough spot to be in. Good luck

I would eat what I can then say I'm getting full and I want to save some room for that great dessert we are having.

Politely decline. If you know before hand, what's going to be served, let your friend know, you don't eat that particular thing. Y.
