I think the coolest dog is the one that you personally love the best and who's right for you.

For me, that's the German shepherd. I really like the unusual colors -- grey sable, red sable, black and silver, etc. My current girl is a black and tan, but she has a lot of silver on her legs and stomach because her sire was a black and silver.

The main reason that I love shepherds is because they are such people-oriented dogs. The ones I've owned have been very loving, obedient, intelligent animals, and they've made my life a lot more fun with their antics.

For the practically perfect pet, I couldn't do better than a well-trained, well-bred German shepherd!

It's difficult to not be totally biased in this question, but without a doubt it is a Jack Russell Terrier for me. They are just so smart, almost human. I've owned one (Jimbo) for 9 years and he seems to be only better as time goes by.

He's a short-leg terrier with a smooth coat and brown and tan markings, and very muscled up. But I also like the long-leg Russells with the smooth coats.

The wire-haired Jack Russells are cute and can be found in a lot of old movies, but I prefer the smooth coats.

These dogs are arrogant and seem to have no sense of their small size as they will take on even a Great Dane if the situation arises just right. I mean these dogs are scrappy little dogs and you have to put some work into training them for good behavior results.

But they are worth every ounce of their weight and reward an owner with loyalty and a fascinating personality that you never grow tired of getting to know.

Silly question ... not only is there a reason why there are over 1000 breeds, each dog is individual and has a different history/genetic code. The coolest dog is the one that you love, care for, and gives love in return!! Specific breeds were designed for specific reasons and mutts, well, they're just a mixture, so how can there be one answer to this question! Big dogs, little dogs, tough dogs, silly dogs, all have their place ... you need to find what YOUR needs are, then fill your 'cool dog' void!

My White Golden Retriever is the best dog known to man. Not only is he the smartest dog on the planet, From what I have seen, He could ask better questions than most. And from that, He just looks cool.

My boxer,,, His name is Indiana Jones (the adventure dog) He is the best type of dog I have ever had!! He is so smart and rings a bell by the door when he wants to go out and he wipes his feet on the rug when it is wet outside or snows. Boxers are lovable and very kid friendly. My boxer is 12 and still very happy and healthy!!

coolest dogs i had was a blue healer,he would sit outside the pub waiting for me to come out whatever the time was that i was in and showed me the way home(blue and white ,fullbreed)

and a doberman ,he would sit far away in the bushes in the shade on the beach ,and when some body came near me, he would be racing towards us and stand between me and the other person,very cool,he would also collect people on the street and drag them into the house by the wrist never hurting anyone ,but making it impossible for them to escape(Black fullbreed)

and a Belgian sheppard ,who dragged me about half a kilometer back to shore ,everytime i swam out as far as i could,me holding on to his tail(Brown ,full breed)

I love German Shepherds. They are a great all around dog for someone with the energy for them! They are also pretty dominant, so they are a 'in your face' presence in a family! My two boys are the best imo.
