Check out the GTAA web site (it will link you) for the specific list of all the things that you can and cannot take with you.
I had to check it out for my parents last week as they were leaving from Toronto Int'l Airport, and the funniest thing I read was that you were allowed to carry on board a parachute. I laughed so hard when I read that. Can you just visualize what everyone around you is thinking when you climb aboard and find your seat while wearing your own parachute. Ahhhhhh....hahahahahahaha.......
The list of what you cannot take aboard is very long!!! Most stuff you can put in your checked bags though.

Okay let me tell you that the people who said its allowed obviously havent flied recently.
You MAY NOT bring your water from home and carry it onboard, what you may do is...When you get passed security and you are in a secure area, you may purchase water/soda ect. at one of the shops or venues, this is permitted on board the aircraft because it has already been screened and cleared safe for travel. While if you bring it from home its "not safe"
