You answered your own question. if faith iis believing in things unseen, you don't need proof. If you had proof, it wouldn't be faith, it would be fact.

A lot of people think faith can only exist without reason. JP Moreland, a prof at my school (Biola) wrote a book called Loving God With All Your Mind, and it's all about using our minds. Some people, though, want to use faith (which is good), but in doing so, ditch reason. However, faith is being sure of what we have reason to believe is true.
Ex: You walk into an unfamiliar office and sit in a chair. No big deal, right? Well you didn't know the chair would hold you up. It could have been mostly disassembled, and you could've fallen as soon as you sat down. But since most chairs are sturdy, you are willing to believe the chair will hold you. The same is true for Christianity. There are many promises of God that have held up, so we have reasons to believe the future ones will.

Having a kid is proof that god exists to you? Are you kidding me!? Is taking a dump a miracle too? Why not? It's an easily explained natural phenomenon. Do you think scientists don't fully understand childbirth? Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean "GodDidIt". People didn't understand lightning either and thought it was Thor..wake up man it's 2006..pick up a high school Biology book why don't you...jeez!
No one says it's by chance. That is a common misrepresentation the sheeple like to give. Show me a real scientist who says child birth happens by chance..or evolution by natural selection is a process of chance.

For something that cannot be rendered by things material, we are left with only fallible, external, expressions for what we feel is real. You love your daughter, but you could not "prove" that to anyone who was already convinced that that type of expression (love) did not exist. The entire scope of what you feel for your child could not possibly be explained in it's entirety without some emotional attachment or "unscientific" elements present to defy a concretely logical explanation for what you believe to be a real and valid human experience. That is why faith is such a valuable component of the human soul--it remains untouchable to physical corruption because we all have an inherent need to reach towards our higher selves--once we give faith 'substance' we inevitably cause hope to perish--why should anyone have to prove that the free gift of having faith (which is understood to be a completely personal experience) is 'real' or not? God exists so that man should always be...in my opinion...

I think the real question is why don't people put their faith into action. If you believe in God, and that what you do has a reason and a person, that you live accordingly. Also, if you believe you are an advanced monkey, then behave accordingly.
As once said, I believe that in regards to faith, the proof is in the pudding. Put the money where your mouth is, etc.
Thats what I think.

Ok, so you want us to give examples that has shown us personally that God exists? well I found that my faith grew stronger after I lost someone I Ioved suddenly. Not because I wanted comfort of the idea of her in heaven, it's just that I didn't blame God or feel hatred for him. I thought that if an incident like that didn't shake my faith in God, then nothing would.
I also agree with the idea of how we are formed and how perfect it seems. That's the idea of Intelligent Design, we are too perfect to be created by chance.

Because some goofy dude jumped in a cage in a zoo because he believe god would protect him. Guess what... now he is dead.
All you need is an ounce of faith and you can move mountains. Well, this guy had enough faith to risk his own life. Yet he couldn't even survive an animal attack.

Faith transcends what is scientifically proven/proveable.
Faith is more than believing what you can see or cannot see. It's a relationship with God. It is a trust that He is there listening to me. No, I can't see Him, but that doens't mean I know he isn't there.
When you drop a book do you SEE gravity? Or, do you see the effect of it?

For the peopel that answered that they live their lives according to what God says and he rewards them as he said he would (Gary), then why hasn't God cured cancer or aids? The bible says that when two or more believers pray for the sick man to be cured it will be so. It also says that when believers are gathered in his name, he will be there also.
So? Where the hell is your God?
In the bible he revealed himself many many times, but why does he choose not to reveal himself in our times? The answer is simple.... he is just a figment of superstitious minds.

I think it's because in this new generation nibody wants to prove themselves weak, not in front of anyone. They want to on top of every one and every thing. That doesn't mean that faith have gone away from this earth forever. If you search fro it you may get it one day.

i look at it this way
we are here for a reason
sumthing that doesnt exist cannot create it self
the universe is obvoiously desinged same as we would assume seeing a wath on that ground that it was built and placed by sumone
but us being able to understand God is like a mouse trying to understand why we experiment upon it
