My daughter is very smart and finds ways of getting around parental controls on the p.c. Is there software that copies all the sites she visits, people she chats with, and emails she writes. She clears her history when she logs off, and that makes me very nervous.

Search for a keylogger. You will want one that will run in a stealth mode so she wont see it on the computer. There are several out there. www.download.com has a few that you can try before you buy.

You can get one that will moniter all her ims, all downloads, all websites visited, emails, etc. Some will even do discrete blocking where the site will return a 404 error instead of a "this site is blocked".

The popular one at the moment is WebWatcher.

I'm sorry I really have to disagree with Johanna above me, kids need to be checked up on.....especially where the internet is concerned. I am affraid that I don't know of any software for this, as my own kids are just babies, and I don't have the need just yet, but I am looking forward to finding some great answers to this question, and wish you the best of luck with your child, from one mom to another, you are doing the right thing!

Check with online tech mags like PCWorld.com and PCMag.com also TechRepublic.com.

I am sure this issue is covered in detail, or that links are available at these sites.

Failing this, type Parental Computer Controls into any search bar, and click enter.

Search for "keystroke" programs they capture all things typed. The program is left hidden on your computer and only a certain set of keys will bring it up. However privacy should be thougt about.

You could always try trusting her... kid's only hide things when they need to. If you have more of an open relationship and show that you trust her, she won't have to try to hide things from you.
