The answer is really quite simple. God called them home (to heaven) at that time. When we are born, we know that we are going to die eventually - but we don't know the time or the day.
Actually, there is no greater way for a Christian to die. Imagine what it was like for those members who woke up in heaven? I truly believe God was smiling!

Last I heard everyone will die at some time. Why would you consider it more evil for a Christian to be taken home during a storm as opposed to a car crash, or cancer, or even old age?
It's impossible for me to know God's specific thinking on this matter but I do know that God's timing is perfect and His purposes are perfect so this wasn't just capricious nonsense.
By the way, there was another story about the church who was having a prayer meeting one night. (This may have been in Texas too.) Everyone who was supposed to come, for one reason or another, failed to show up, including the minister. That evening the church was destroyed in a storm. If they had been there everyone would have been severely injured or killed. God's grace protected every one of those people. Now, are you going to praise God for mercifully sparing every one of the members who was supposed to be there?
My opinion is that if you can't joyfully praise God when He does something wonderful you have no business opening your trap when something you don't like happens. If you do, you're just a malcontent who's glass is always half empty.
Paul wrote "give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5:18 I believe Christians would be much more content in Jesus if they remembered to praise him all the time, not just when things are going their way.

Sometimes when I am in church I want to stay and keep worshiping, even when it is time to leave. Maybe those ten felt that way and God gave them the chance by being with him. It was an act of nature and Christians and unbelieving people die every day. Christians are not better or more deserving of life then unbelieving people, they have no guarantee of protection or a better existence than unbelievers in this life.

Oh my gosh. Ok, it was a TORNADO! Ok let me EXPLAIN something to you. God LETS things take place on earth, including storms, growth, people dying, people being born, wars etc. on there OWN terms. If he didn't we would never make mistakes and NOTHING would ever happen. Yes, he has control over that kind of thing, but many Christians (as well as other people in other religions) die in car crashes, giving birth, from diseases everyday. People aren't killed because God doesn't like them, they die because it was their time to die. Whether the reason for death was because of a storm or a sickness or something they brought upon themselves, God has the decision to let them live or not. If he didn't it was their time.

You know that God is not the only being that can control things. Let's turn this coin around. Maybe that church was so filled with God loving people that it got Lucifer mad. Lucifer's only can control earth(rain, wind, and storms), and he might have gotten that mad. But god did take them home. Everyone is put on Earth to do a job, when the job is done, they go home.

That first answer is ridiculous.
I don't consider natural occurrences "acts of God," I think he just created us, the world, the natural events and lets things happen as they happen. You're making it seem like God said "Hey, today I'll take out an entire church!" and I don't think that's how it is but that's my opinion.

I'd have a problem with the "testing" bit too. Tell that to people that have lost their loved ones, and all you'll get is resentment.
I can't explain God's actions, no one can. But that doesn't mean He doesn't exist. We have to build our way out of those holes in our lives, it takes hard work and determination but it can be done.

God is a kid with an ant farm.
Much like a human with a hampster, bird or fish god controls us all but god doesn't pay attention to everything all the time. god will poke in occasionally but other than that we are left on our own.

Believing in Jesus Christ doesn't make me invincible. I'm going to have problems and hardships just as well as you will. The thing is, it helps me deal with all of these problems. The pain doesn't end until I die. And it won't for you. But this is not the best that it gets. You don't need to buy it, it's been paid for by the blood of Christ. Everyone sins.....everyone, The wages of sin is death.
