It depends very much on how liberal and broad minded your boyfriend's parents are. This you should check it out with your b/f and get his feedback or opinion. Anyway, no matter how open minded and modern his parents are, the most important thing to do is to put both your hands (palms) together and say "nameste". This is a very traditional greeting among Indians and is well received and appreciated by the elders in the Indian community. Also be reasonably well dressed without showing too much of your body. You don't have to be conservative or too modern in your appearance. No need to overdo anything. Just keep the balance and be yourself.

im sure they wont expect u to know indian customs, do what u would do meeting other parents, dress modestly, take a gift along, perhaps some sweets, dont be loud or interupt, offer to help the mum, ask questions to show u are interested in their culture, compliment the mums bangles (my indian friends just looove their bangles) most of all be yourself, its easy to tell if someone is being fake.
If you are expected to eat with your hands, only use the right one and dont get food on your palm.
Good luck

1st of all u should learn the Indian customs and not violate any of them (like for instance if a thumbs up is bad, don't make a thumbs up sign. this is not true, just an example) then make sure you know your table manners and greeting etiquette. and last, make sure you have things 2 talk about

Dress accordingly, and VERY important in the indian culture... do not be a loud brazen american (like me), indian women are very soft spoken.

Compliment their beautiful Ganesh statue, and any other hindu religious items (may new agers like myself have these in my home anyway)

(I am assuming they are hindu, but they could be muslim, in which case you will not see Ganesh, shiva, or any other of their Gods)

Act (hopefully you are) interested in their culture.

Make sure they can tell you really care about their son.

If they serve you food be sure to compliment her.

For one they will insult you in there own language for being American. Indian parents want there sons marrying Indian girls and will just accept you aslong as there son agrees it is just for fun and will marry an Indian girl later

Just be yourself. When in doubt, follow your boyfriend's example. And dress modestly. Take a neutral gift - maybe something for the house. Good luck. Let us know how it went.

1. Address them by their surnames (Mr and Mrs.). NEVER use first names unless they insist; which they probably won't.
2. Go easy on the PDA. Take your cue from your boyfriend.
3. Do NOT ask if they know so-and so from India (I think you've figured this one out).

4. Relax and remember: your boyfriend is introducing you to his parents. This usually means that he really likes you.

Good luck.

Tell them you love powwows.

Tell them you hate George Armstrong Custer.

Tell them the Comancheros were a bunch of rotters.

well but you are going to meet perhaps your in-loves so you have to behave accordingly, I would say depending on how long the parents of your boyfriend have been heir, don't forget to kiss the hand of his parents, and take your shoes of.
