Sorry. I wasn't clear. I did install the updates, but the computer was asking me to update it again several times (up to 5) EACH DAY. Then my computer suffered major problems when I refused to And yes, I did uninstall both the anti-virus software and anti-spyware programs, as well as a disabled version of Norton. I'll have to go and get a new computer now. No more of this junk!

Sounds like crap. I hate anti-virus programs. I would vote for uninstalling the crap software.

The only thing I can think of is that if you haven't kept up with the updates, there could be several waiting in the queue for you to download. It's best to download them all in one session, but sometimes the downloads take so long that you don't want to commit the time. Other than that, maybe your computer needs a system restore to run more efficiently. I think you can find system restore under My Computer icon.

You need get to know more detail of your av program in term of av files updating. You may choose to update av files per selected time.

depends.... what's the name of AV? if it's not in a well known segment of the free ones, and there is not a virus flap, then i'd say these guys were trying to maybe scare you into buying an upgrade version.....with the promise of it being their 'premium' stuff.... sounds a little hokey to me.

I have McAfee, sometimes it does that to me also. They just come out with new stuff.
