The custom is not to tip a salon owner because often they charge more or they make money off the salon workers. But I say do not tip anyone if you do not get good service. Just because you own a salon does not mean at the end of the month things are not tight. If you liked what she did alot or a little tip her accordingly is my opinion because they work on commission who work for her and if her salon makes no money she makes nothing that week day or month except her tips. TIPS means to insure proper service. You reward a waitress for good work and service because she makes an hourly less than minimum wage and it automatically taxed 8 percent of her food sales remember that. A cosmetologist may make less than minimum wage, as much as minimum wage or more than minimum wage but it is a dog eat dog competitive world where often the really good ones leave if they cannot drum up enough business or money to survive well in it so you get as my husband calls them the lazies and stupids instead because there is no one else. Just because they own a salon does not mean they are better just that they got the finances to obtain a salon to make money on the other cosmetologists who work for her. Generally in a salon line the manager is one of the better hairdressers in the salon but not necessarily they may be the better business manager. Tip if you want to it is your choice but it sure helped me out when things were tight to recieve a tip as a Cosmetologist.

yes, the stylist is the stylist, whether they own the salon or not. They are responsible still for all utilities of the salon and any other expenses that occur so they need tips too. People always look at the business owner as being the owner so they don't need tips, but they sometimes have more bills than the other stylist. Whatever occurs extra, they are responsible for...........

your kidding suitable.. $fifty 5.00 for a hair decrease? Your loopy isn't no hair decrease rather worth that. Get a acquaintances who can do it and keep the money. Or pass to a school to get it. As on your question you're paying the guy $fifty 5.00 on your haircut and that they don't desire a tip. it may be secure at that fee. If not difficult for them. i would not pay a tip at any barber or salon. I in no way have and in no way will. There greater beneficial than paid for what they do keep the tip for the destructive waitress making 2.15 an hour or perhaps your newspaper deliverer if there sturdy as they gets a commission undesirable money for there jobs.

I go to one place and I always tip her, I noticed after a while that she doesn't charge me as much as when I first went to her. So by the time I add the tip in I am paying what she would have normally charged.

My wife says that generally the owners charge more, so you don't have to tip them, but you should give a smaller tip than you would give an employee.
