Definately seek professional help, speech therapist. This will only get worse as he gets older. It will eventually eat away at his self confidence...and we know where that leads.

My brother had a stuttering problem. The doctor said it was common in the younger sibilings because they get 'talked over'. Don't know if it's true or not, but once we changed the rules at home things settled down for him. Eventually, my mom got a therapist through the school. :)) Try your school they are very helpful. They were very helpful with my brother's learning disability also. And, carved a program specifically for him based on his needs.

Take him to a speech therapist, as the orhers have recommended. Also, do something to boost his self-esteem and self-confidence. Tap into what he excels at, make him do it more, then ask him to explain how it is done, why it needs to be done and all that will make him talk more and ultimately be able to explain things clearly.

Another possible additional measure is to take him to a child psychologist to have him evaluated. Some children have thought processes that are known to be far more advanced (or they think too fast) that they have a hard time verbalizing their ideas.

Also have a doctor look into his case. It is also possible that the problem is medical in nature.

Mel Tillis has a terrible stutter and began to get better when he would sing the phrase. Ask your grandson to sing a question to you using a well known song, like Jingle Bells.

A good speech therapist. Try to get him to think about what his answer is instead of speaking off the cuff.

Bad Parents, Specially if this is the first help this child is trying to get. I would call 911 on parents and have them arrested for child abuse. I can only assume that parents have no job to get insurance with??? Seven YEARS??? This is another sad day in America. I'm too mad to even try to finish answering this question.

I really don't have any professional answers for you, but I am sure there is a counselor out there that can help you.
