When he wakes up in the morning. Hug him, tell him you love him, and get on with your day. You will have plenty of "bad days", but the good ones far out - weigh the bad.

When I have a bad day with my daughter who is four. I always end the day on a positive note. Such as giveing her a hug and a kiss and I tell her that I love her even when I go mad at her. Then I say good night and sweet dreams.

Well assuming you didn't physically harm him or say something that will emotionally scar him for life... Just give yourself a break and realize you are only human. Just always try to make decisions and to discipline out of love . You will still make mistakes but they won't be as big and in the end you can live with them knowing they were done with his best interest in mind and not for selfish reasons. Let's face it 5 year olds are not always the nicest people to be around. Love him and love yourself and everything will turn out fine in the end.

I'm not a parent, but a teacher. I have lost my patience before with my cousins while babysitting also. I feel much better when I apologize for what I did and make sure he understands that you still love him and that everyone has bad days.

count to ten before you do anything when you have an agrivating child and you will find you have a little less guilt. but if you weren't doing the right thing for your kid you wouldn't feel any guilt so take heart and the terrible 5's will pass

Well every mom loses patience with their kids... I guess as to how bad it is depends on how you reacted to the loss of patience... As long as you didnt do anything to harm him I wouldnt let the guilt get to you too much... kids push buttons and try and see how far they can go and how much they can get away with...

I feel the same way when I am dealing with my 6 and 3 year old. I think that what you are going to have to do is realize that you are human and that parents make mistakes. Just try not to make the same mistakes tomorrow.

Remember that you are the parent and he has to know who the boss is.I remember when my boys were going thru that age, they wanted to be the boss and even got attitudes.Time outs in the corner worked great once that figured out they werent getting out til I said. Its really easy to lose control and getting it back takes some
time but its worth it. Let him know that you will love him no matter what but also that he will mind one way or the other lol.Gotta love em!

you will have bad days. you will have guilt. if you never have guilt you are not a good parent. keep up the good work and give yourself a break...and maybe a glass of wine :)
