In our culture reckless driving is cute and acceptable, as stated in some of these answers.
Just look at how people drive. If Americans thought about the danger from terrorists, and compared that to what we loose on our roads I think people would take the subject more seriously.
Over 50,000 Americans every year, 30% of them teens.
More Americans had died between 9-11 and November 1, 2001 than died in the attacks.

To many. I read once tho that in the horse and buggy days that there were more accidents and deaths caused by riding horses and horses with buggy's and wagons then now with today's vehicles.per population. you sure wouldn't think it now would you.if they would make cars the same height with large rubber bumpers like bumper cars at the fair there sure wouldn't be so many deaths, just a thought.when I see an accident I think of that ole country song, that says, I heard the crash on the highway but I didnt hear anyone pray. I always pray for the people.

They think that despite millions of idiots to the contrary that they are somehow "special" and nothing could EVER happen to THEM.

It only takes three brain cells to operate a car, but a lot more than that to PAY ATTENTION to what you're doing and UNDERSTAND what's going on around you. Seatbelts exist for a reason (the same reason that helmets and leathers exist), and if you choose not to use them, then you also choose to accept whatever happens. If the consequences include DEATH, it's your problem, not society's.
