Yes. People overdose on sleeping pills all the time. They are addictive sometimes too.

Certainly. Anything taken in excess can kill you. Too much table salt can kill you, for example. Too much of anything is lethal -- the question is, "What is a lethal dose?" That will be different for different people but too much of sleeping pills -- prescription or over-the-counter -- will kill you.

Yes, they can. barbiturates do not need a particularly high dose. But benzodiazepines, (Valium (diazepam), Serapax(oxazepam), Mogadon, etc., anything with -azepam on the end are a bit harder. It can be done but you need quite a high dose. Most sleeping pill overdoses are done in conjunction with alcohol as it potentiates it.
If you are thinking of doing something like this, please talk to someone. It sounds like u just want to sleep for awhile....just go to bed and relax, don't kill yourself.
Tke it easy,

If they are barbituates, absolutely.. many people choose this method to catch the last train to the coast. Maryilyn, you name it...not intentionally, perhaps, but just the same...Uppers in the morning and sleeping pills at night...Judy Garland did her self in the same way. Very common.

It doesn't take a medical expert to answer this question -- yes they can. I have a friend who killed herself this way.
