you dont worry about the parents yet. You call and be very nice and ask to speak with him. If he didnt give you the number then dont call. Now once you and him start talking and he ask you to come over then you worry about impressing his parents.

you can't get him to answer the phone, btw.
if it goes anywhere you have to meet them sometime - this way it's on 'neutral ground' - the phone - (vs. their house).
better to call and be wayyy polite on the phone - ask if it's a bad time to call and if they were on the other line, etc. 'hope i'm not interrupting dinner / favorite tv show / anything' - etc. 'hope it's not too late to call' and say 'nice talking to you' at the end.
and this dude has no cell phone and no IM ?
if you are going to call out of the blue, i would reconsider. try emailing him first - so he knows it's coming. 'i have this and that and this to do and if you are gonna be in, i thought i'd give you a call when i get home, which should be around ...' do it a few days in advance. AND AND AND - act like you are busy with a lot of stuff and this is just one more phone call - DO NOT get into 'i didn't know when to call and how to do it and i even when on yahoo...' - NO.
Sound confident and busy - you are not putting a whole bunch of weight on this call - DO NOT make it life or death. 'i have some other stuff i have to take care of. it should be about... pm when i'm done.'

What you do first off is make sure you call at a decent hour nothing later than 9 at night. If his parrents answer the phone make sure you talk very politely. And aren't rude. If ya'll are in school you can always say you had a question over an assigment. If not then just say that you would really like to get in touch with him.

If he gave you his number and told you to call, wait 2 days. Don't call after 9PM. If he didn't give you his number, don't call under any circumstances. Be polite if his parents answer. Remember, it is there house and if you are respectful of their privacy (not calling late or too often) they will most likely be fine with you calling.

Who are you wanting to talk to here, the guy or his parents? Call the guy already... what is worst that can happen? And please I hope you don't go around saying 'prolly don't like me???? attitude like that, he aint gonna like ya after awhile either... so don't seal your own fate with that junk before you even get started here... call and be confident sounding when you ask to speak to him K.

You: Yes please tell him (insert your name here) called.
Hang up or talk to him.... its not that complicated. No one will hate you after a phone conversation unless you are rude to them in the first place. Just be yourself and be kind.
