Which country's passport gives it's citizens the best access to the world? And why?

Please do not answer with childish, sophomoric drivel about what a great bunch of lads you are all. I’m not talking about opinion; I mean type of visas granted etc. For example, three countries in Asia I'm familiar with are:

Taiwan: US holders can get a five year multiple entry no charge. Canadians can get 1 year multiple. Brits and other euros generally only two months and are charged.

Thailand: The same visas but only US passport holders can legally own a ria (sp) of land. UK and others cannot.

China: Same amounts of time but since US imposed stricter controls on visas; China retaliated with higher fees for Americans.

Any ideas?

UK and US passports are the best, The holders are entitled to travel half of the world without visa (visas are typical required in some countries in Middle East, and South America, Former USSR).

An Irish passport gives the holder visa free access to more countries than any other. Ireland is not a member of NATO, but is a member of the EU. I am an Irish passport holder. I live in South East Aisa, and I have visited 17 countries to date, and only when visiting Vietnam was required to obtain a Visa in advance.

The swiss passport. Of course also swiss need visas for certain countries but I never had any difficulties to get one. I'm travelling around the world for decades and the swiss passport helped me a lot in certain places.

I think the United States passport carries the most weight. You dont need visa to maximum countries in the world.
