they see other dogs as a threat to their terrifory, and view their masters as "alpha" males (or females) the territorial defense also applies to other, unknown humans. Note that this is not true of all dogs. it depends more on their training and environment than anything else.

That is not a true representation of dogs in general - just take a look at all of the dogs that visit dog parks routinely - most dogs if they are socialized correctly from the time they are puppies, are fine with other animals in general - if dogs are sheltered and raised at home behind closed door and not socialized with other animals or other people, these dogs will become very protective of thier home & family and will not trust other animals unless they are tiny babies and even then you may have to be careful and dog do not always carry a paternal gene - not all dogs make good moms or dads - If a dog hates other dogs it is clear that the dog was not socialized properly by that dogs owner(s). This can be corrected but it is much harder to fix this problem then it is to avoid it all together.

I am wondering if your real question might be how do I get them to eat their food and not mine. The answer is very simple actually. Do not allow them in the room with you when u are eating. Do not keep food out for them all the time. Feed at regular intervals. (age appropriate) If they just sniff it and walk away then pick up the bowl and give it back to them next feeding time. Don't give into the pleading eyes and whines. You are the head dog and this is something that they understand. They won't hate you. Also never give them bites of any human food. EVER NEVER. This only makes them think that if they beg a little harder they will get it. You can add several years to your dogs life just by doing this

Why do most humans love dogs but hate other humans? It's probably the same with them as it is with us.

Dogs are naturally very territorial. Humans don't ping their territorial instincts in the way other dogs do.
It also has to do with how much you've socialized you dog to other dogs.

They do? I think that comes from training. ALL dogs I have had like both people and other dogs.
If you get nervous or protective around other dogs, your dogs will pick up on that and be guarded around them.

~There, see. You can ask about something other than your math homework. But from this one, I can see you are having trouble with English as well. Has it occurred to you that maybe you are spending entirely too much time on the computer and no where near enough time with your books?
