Her metabolism will stop working properly. Her body will go into starvation mode and will not digest as effectively.
Another immediate concern is that if you are restricting (skipping meals, cutting out calories), you are setting yourself up to eventually binge. This will cause weight GAIN. The best way to lose weight is to eat sensibly, and exercize. Don't try to lose or gain weight too quickly, as it's not healthy.
Below is a link to find a nutritionist. He or she can help you establish a meal plan that's right for you.
Best of luck to you. :)

No one should eat less than 1200 cal a day. It is not possible to get the proper nutrition this way and taking a multivitamin doesn't count. You won't get enough protein/carbs/essential fats(yes some fat is good).
Dr's consider healthy weight loss to be 2 lbs a week and will never advise a diet under 1200 cal for anyone who isn't bedridden.
If you love or even care for this woman do not let her starve herself this way.

900 calories is okay as long as she is eating the right foods that contain the right nutrients. Obviously this person will lose weight over the course of the four months and as long as she exercises it sounds okay to me. If you are worried about her, tell her.

Average caloric intake for women 1500 and men is 2000/day. You are going to nutritionally nuke your system. Eat those calories, and exercise way more.

she'll lose weight and then bam she'll swell up like a balloon again when she starts eating. After starving herself for so many months. Exercise is key, tell her to move her butt more often!

its a very low amount of calories...
truth be told..it is better for a woman to be on about1500 calories, and then reduce to 1200, then 1000 and then maybe 700 (the 700 for quick diet)..
because the body goes into a situation where it thinks it is starving...and it actually retains what reserves it has (fat)...so, to answer your question...i think it remains to be seen if 900 calories is too low...based on t he above information..........

Depending on the rate of calorie burn, you're going to shrink up to nothing, or NOT!

She is probably trying to lose weight or maintain her weight. Give her credit for doing the right thing. It's not your business.

depends on your lifestyle. If you just sit on the couch all day, 900 calories should get it done.
