First, the body would need to be in good physical condition to start. Next, a suitable layer of fat would be needed. Next, the body would need to be acclimated to the climate. If all is well, yes a person could do that as long as the freezing temperature isn't too far below freezing. Also, the amount of time would be limited, especially if there is a significant wind chill.

I saw a fat woman swim over a mile in water just off the shore of antarctica. She survived but she shivered quite violently for probably an hour afterward. Because of the salinity of the water, the temperature was measured to be slightly below the normal freezing point of water. Convection happens much more rapidly in water than in air so she would have gotten cold much faster than a vasoline covered person in cold air. I can't believe I'm taking this question this seriously...Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid?

Aside from the fact that it sounds absolutely disgusting, I imagine you could walk around naked at 32º, petroleum or no petroleum, for a while. Eventually, however, you'd succumb to the cold, and perish in a big greasy heap.

first the petroleum jelly would freeze and crack off. some time ago there were pictures on the news of a polar expedition with the men shoveling snow with their shirts off. It was 10 below. weird, huh?

it depends on what u call freezing temperature. u mean 32 degrees or what. if it's between 0 and 32 then i can. but if its in public i wouldn't

i have forded headwaters of a river @ 0 ,i took my clothes off and went across the water waist deep naked to get a dog and survived
