I am a CPA and in 7 years and hundreds of clients, I have had exactly one client specifically tell me that they wanted it contributed to the fund.
Otherwise I always check no....it's not worth the hassle to even ask and have to explain what it is and why it won't change their refund or amount due.

No I don't, however, based on the answers given there are an incredible number of uneducated people on this topic.
If everyone checked no, then the money wouldn't be handed out, because it's a separate budgeted line item.
The rationale behind the fund is to help fund a candidate who cannot raise sufficient funds. Some candidates eschew the amount, because there are strings attached.
BTW, I believe the dollar amount is now $3.00.

No, I only check off the box to donate funds to environmental causes in my state. If everyone checked 'no', the campaigns would still generate millions of dollars though other means.

Hell no.
What for? Bush didn't need a donation and he wasted our money on a war that has no WMDs.
Besides, if I filled out the LONG FORM every year, I'd get a few more dollars, so they can keep the few dollars that I don't claim by using the SHORT FORM.
